Mendocino appears to have given this a repackaging, calling it an Autumn Lager. Pork roast for dinner. What better pairing than a Marzen/Oktoberfest. And this one does not disappoint. It is a brass colored beer. Moderate off white frothy head. Average hang time. Settles eventually into a small ringlet. The aroma is sweet malt with a background of alcohol. This is a full bodied beer. Nice smoothness. The taste is a nice balancing act of sweet caramel malt and subtle bittering hops. Really worth a try as the Marzens are put on the autumn shelves.

Poured a clear copper color with a thin tan head. Requisite caramel malt aroma with some dark fruit. Full, dense mouthfeel and very sweet fruity caramel flavors. Long thick sweet and warming finish that, in spite of some sour bitterness, borders on cloying. Music: 'So Jung Komma Nimma Z'samm' by Maxl Graf

This beer pours a deep copperish colour with a medium size white head. sweeter then i expected, but very pleasent. pecans, caramel and a little pear in the aroma. Semi-sweet, with a light mouthfeel. typical marzen, not too exciting.

Ok, I think this will be my last O'fest of '07. Unfortunately it is rather boring and thin. Sweet doughy aroma, faint and light. Great pour, large head atop a clear copper body. Then the head diminishes and has some odd clumps trapped in it, mild lacing. Watery on the palate, but still has a solid body. Cloyingly sweet taste, brown sugar and breakfast rolls. Again most qualities are dull and diluted, good thing this was part of a store bought mixer. One and done.

Pours copper colored, quickly dissipating small initial head, which means no head, no lacing. The aroma was bready, toasty. The flavor follows, decent toasty bready malts, light spicing, but an aftertaste full of adjuncts, corn mostly, made me feel like it was pale lager swill based on the finish. The mouthfeel was tingly from the spice carbonation combination, but I couldn't get past the corniness.

Deep amber/brown color with decent head, no lacing. Aroma of bready malts. Flavor was caramel and bready malts, toasty. It was sweet and the problem is that it was really uncarbonated...almost flat (but had a good head?). A little cloying.

Deep rich amber coloring with little head. Sweet malty aroma highlighted with spiced hops. Ample carbonation with more hops than expected. Good balance with the maltiness with spicy hop finish.
