330 ml bottle, at Cardinal, Stavanger. ABV is 8.3%. Moderately hazy straw colour, huge white head. Sweetish aroma of glucose syrup, Belgian ale yeast and mild spices / spicy hops. Medium sweet flavour with the same elements, more distinct hop bitterness than in most Belgian strong pale ales, but well balanced.

Comes out of the tap a beautiful clear golden with a thick white head. Sweet malty aroma is slightly fruity. Sweet, powdery, fruity flavor has malt, apple, cherry, and a hint of berry. Crisp, fizzy texture leaves a fruity and powdery finish. Definitely worthy of at least a try.

A recent find at the Liquor Control Board of Ontario branch store. A cloudy gold colour with a generous white cap. The aroma is mainly cereal malt, yeast, and some notes of floral hops. The flavour is grainly with hints of yeast, citrus, and spices. Not as hoppy as the name would indicate, but a pretty good beer nonetheless.

Single bottle from the LCBO with 8.3% ABV. and best before L14112015. Pours a cloudy golden-yellow colour with a white head, good retention and some patchy foam lace. Aromas start off on the malty side, but eventually, grass appears with mild yeast. The herbal notes come out a little bit more in the taste, giving some decent bitterness. This creates a small dryness in the mouthfeel. Spicy flavours making this one a total Belgian hoppy beer, and not a North American experience.

The beer pours a translucent honey yellow colour with a huge (and I mean huge) rocky white head that takes forever to die. Aroma is light fruits, citrus, yeast, grains, and some herbal spicy notes. Mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with average carbonation. Flavour is yeast, light fruit, honey, herbal hops, and some grains. A bitter, yet tangy aftertaste is apparent.

    330ml fliptop bottle -

Oddly enough, found this one while shopping at Cost Plus (which to be honest, isn't all that bad of a place to look for beer). It really reminds me more of a tripel than a BSA, but whatever. A nicely malted aroma, slightly toasty, moderately hoppy with some light pitted fruit and wet grass. Nice mouthfeel, solid flavor profile of sweet fruit-cocktail, light yeast, and spicy/acidic-like finish. The spicy finish and the fruit-cocktail finish almost reminded me of some kind of marzipan. Good, but one bottle was sufficient.

Golden yellow and white thick foam head. Quite carbonated. Good solid tripel with caramel and barely taste. Nice bitter and staying palette. A good beer for a quite evening. Velp 201112)

330 ml swing-top bottle. Poured in the special designed Hopus tulip glass a hazy rich golden-amber coloured ale with a three fingers slightly beige creamy foamy head that had a long retention and tons of micro bubbles. The aroma is grainy malts, fruity with citrus notes and floral hops. The flavour is sweety malts, yellow fruits, apricots, peaches and a strong floral hoppy bitterness. The mouthfeel is crispy and quickly warming. This medium to full bodied ale has a long hoppy bitter finish. A pleasant bitter Belgian Strong Ale.

This was a disappointing beer. I was expecting it to be a lot more "Belgian" than it was. It poured a medium gold with a white head, not very big. The aroma is grainy malt, with a mix of hops and light fruits. The flavour is rather bland with more of the grass. More yeast was needed to make this a better beer.

Even though this is somewhat of a letdown, esepcially for the price, I think it should get a little more love than the current ratings. Yes, it's a little bland for a Belgian...but still a good quality beer. Aroma is yeasty and fruity. Appearance is semi-cloudy medium yellowish. Taste is decent...kinda fruity, wheaty, yeasty, with light caramel malts. I like the hop finish at the end, which IMO puts this beer above average. Would rather go with a Trap, De Dolle, or St. Bernie next time though.
