Tried this at the Mammoth Brewer's tent at the Labor Day fair in Mammoth Lakes. A good beer, but rather indistinguishable. Really dark, even for a red. Not as sweet as I was expecting it to be. Nothing really noticeable at all here. There was a carmelly-fruitiness that made it easy to drink, but not something I would go out of my way to find again

this beer is way dark for an amber...but it's not really a red either. i think they just did what they wanted with this one. it's malty all the way, like a brown but sweeter. it's actually an unbalanced mess (no hop presence whatsoever) but for whatever reason i've always really enjoyed it. the caramel malt flavors are great, and it is refreshing and highly drinkable, just not true to the style for an amber or red.

This amber ale pours a dark amber color from a 12oz bottle. Small sized white foamy head. The aroma is caramel and sweet. A medium bodied amber. The malts are caramel and sweet. The hops are earthy. This amber is more caramel malt, than fruity and sweet. It is not as sweet as most ambers. Good carbonation. It is an amber, but not that objectionable. It looks like the brew pub is closed, but this beer is still being produced. This bottle was purchased within a couple days of sampling and seems fairly fresh, so where is it being brewed? Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Sampled in Truckee. A nice brew. Aroma was fair but the key was the appearance. Was very dark red with a thick head. One of the best amber ales i have had. Mouthfeel is smooth and the flavor is nice and hoppy.

Excellent in the bottle by the lake itself. Has the best red and head you could ask for in a red ale and tastes damn good too. Absolutely recommended.
