This West Coast-Style India Pale Ale is extravagantly hopped, full flavored, medium bodied and copper colored. A menagerie of hops is combined throughout the brewing process to impart specific characteristics. Hops used include Simcoe for a unique fruitiness and grapefruit zest, Columbus for strong hop pungency, Centennial for pine and citrus notes, and Cascade for floral aroma. this poured an amber color with a medium off white head that left decent lacing. Aroma has caramel malt, pine, citrus, and floral hops as well. Taste of more pine/citru with bitter finnish

This beer has changed recipe? This is now an Imperial IPA (they call it double) at 8.1 ABV and a whopping 95 IBU. Nose is peaches, pine, and floral. Orange-amber body that is not clear topped with minimal white head that leaves a solid skim coat and little lace. Mouth if full, creamy, and carbonation spot on. Good balance on the flavor. Big grain and big bitter with a slightly dry finish and alcohol present. Hints of peach, tobacco, and something green...., pine resin and bitter, did I say bitter? Its bitter!

Clear orange with small off-white lacing foam head. Aroma is hoppy period. Tastes not too bitter, indeed some grapefruit there. Different. Strong bitter aftertaste again though. (Madrid 201405)

Bomber from BCLDB Nordel Crossing. Clear copper pour, modest white head, nice retention. Excellent aroma of grapefruit, hops, and pine. VERY bitter flavour, although there is a hint of malt to keep things from running away. Superior mouthfeel. Bitterness abounds, yet a caramel note appears at the finish.

This is the quintessential west coast IPA (aptly named) and a true benchmark for the style. Tons of citrus and piney hops in both aroma and taste. Lingering bitterness. To put this beer's awesomeness in perspective, it is the one brew I still remember clearly from attending the Oregon Brewers Fest in 2006 (and I tried around 100 beers that weekend).

Acquired from Chopz via trade. Poured a very huge brownish head, but doesn't really stay long. Leaves sporadic bubbles and foam with a small ring inside. Dirty patchy lacing. Has an amber/coppery appearance. Aromas of strong citrus and floral hops. Has a bit of a toasty malts scent as well. Strong citrus hop flavours. Nice bitterness to balance out the sweetness. Some nutty malt flavours and hints of spices as well, not too strong. Medium bodied, average carbonation. Smooth and well balanced between bitterness and sweetness. Pretty darn good stuff!

A typical solid West Coast IPA. Not too many on the East Coast get it right like this. Aroma and feel almost a 9, which would bring this up to full top-tier...if not there already. Flavor is excellent...both malty and hoppy with a good balance. Cloudy darker orange-light brown appearance with off-white head. Citrus, pine, and floral notes in the aroma and flavors. Only had a single this time, but will probably get a 4-pack to sample some more.

Bottle. Pours a clear deep gold-orange ale in the glass with a 1 finger cap, good lacing, moderate carbonation. Aroma is all west coast in spades lottsa Chinooks some grains. Profile is enamel melting hoops in front which mellow and ride above a decent pale malt cereal taste… citrus-fruit-grain mid palate, clean dry hoppy finish and mild warming. Great little session IPA extremely hoppy for a bottled product but it backs off in the finish for a very drinkable brew. Easy to like this one

4-pack at the LCBO. Pours a clean rich amber colour with a frothy off-white head that lasts for quite a while, leaving some soapy lace. Fresh Cascade hop nose with the sweet grapefruit notes. Not as bitter in the taste as what these seems. Just a nice wetness that becomes dryer and dryer in the aftertaste. Grainy malts appear as well with grapefruit zest. Hints of caramel blend it all. Seems to change at every sip. A decent IPA for those who do not like them too bitter, but still micro-tasting with the American style.

Found this gem while in Fresno. Damn...is that a sticky bitter IPA or what? Even my burps smell like hops. Truckloads of grapefruit rind, oranges, pine needles, and freshly cut grass. The whole spectrum is there. Lots of foamy tan head, leaving fire-extinguisher foam on the sides of the glass. Orange-ish body with a newly-polished copper gleam. Finishes dry and pretty clean...vague echoes of the hop invasion linger on the tongue. What an excellent beer!
