Our ENGLISH BAY PALE ALE has a smooth, mild flavour brimming with West Coast character and a caramel malt aroma. A true pale ale, it gets its perfect balance from natural carbonation and careful maturing under the watchful eye of our brewmaster. TASTING NOTES Caramel malt flavour and light hop bitterness, balanced with a dry roasted finish. FOOD PAIRINGS Grill and serve. Caramel malt flavours pair up well with grilled meats. Perfect pairing: Tenderloin or beef burgers.

Ca. Colour - slightly hazy rust coloured beer with a huge off-white foamy head and decent lacing. Aroma - light notes of bready malt, sweet caramel, musty hops, and a slight hint of yeast. Mouthfeel - a little thinner than medium bodied, well carbonated. Flavour - sweet and malty up front and a noce slightly bitter finish.

One of the first Canadian craft brewers to be taken out by a macro, but like Creemore, the taste of the beer hasn’t changed much before or after. Still humdrum at best. The beer is a nice clear rust colour with a small off-white head. Aroma is punctuated by an overabundance of caramel notes with light herbal hoppy notes mixed in. Flavour is sweet caramel malt, balanced by a bitter herbal hoppiness. Decent enough I guess.

Don't bother wasting a glass on this one. Just drink it straight out of the bottle. You really won't be missing out on anything. I love it when these "pale ales" are more of a burnt umber colour. It is tatsy and drinakble, and you do notice the caramel a wee bit, but not so much. A tad nutty as well, a little much for my liking, but none the less still just an avergae brew and nothing to special. This is one of them session type beers where the colder they become the more drinkable they are. Oh yeah, it also has the tendency to stick to the roof of your mouth, which is the 2nd GI beer I've had that does that.

Beer drank on tap at the Grand opening of a new pub so I’ll just assume it’s a Fresh keg ( this was their best tap selection………sigh). Amber brown Body with a 1/8” tan cap floating on top when first delivered to me. Nice aroma, mild yet had some substance. Taste and aroma where basically the same so I’m not going to waste writing it twice. Pennies, nice noble hops, caramel malts, some toasted grains, surprisingly no noticeable bread ( I was truly expecting a bread bomb ). All comes across clean and crisp. Nice brew that won’t offend anyone and suitable for the none beer geek.

Bottle: another GIB brew I am tasting after a long time. This pale ale I’m not so crazy about, never was. Although it is a malty brew, sweetness dominates and the hops are trimmed back too far to even approximate style. This is more like a commercial cream ale - too sweet for me.

Had a pint at The Paupers Pub on Bloor st. in Toronto. Pint arrived with a thin layer of foamy head. Has a dark coppery amber appearance. Aromas of mild hops and malts. A bit of grains and wheat coming through as well. Taste is of light roasted malts and a good balance of fresh hops. Very mild spices. Somewhat bitter aftertaste. Not too bad.

Granville Island/Creemore Springs Mixed 6 pack
The beer poured a translucent cherry red colour with a very thin white head. The aroma is caramel, weak hops, and some metallic notes. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. The metallic notes really come through in the flavour, although there is a bit or sour grains as well. Not a fan of Granville Island after the three beers I received.

My first Granville Island Brewing experience, in a 6-pack at the LCBO. Pours a copper colour with an off-white, creamy head that stays a while and leaves great lacing. Nice grainy and caramel malts with notes of roasted ones. The mouthfeel is slick and the taste is a little watery. A balance of mild hops and burnt malt with the caramel in the background. A refreshing, slightly darker swill that smells decent but lacks flavours.

I think that my "average" number is going to be reset at 4 soon... the macros that really suck I dont review, and I seem to have a lot of really good brews that all end up at 4.5's or 4.6's, while this is going to get a 3.5, as it is all 6's only .1 below rouges double mocha porter. Anyways, its really average, seems a bit brit, caramel malts, super bready, touch of grassy hops, and seems to be a bit off bitter, maybe IBU 35? Decent but nothing to write home about.
