A non-committal, but non-hateful 'fest... lacks any real depth of character and is very thin in texture and light bodied despite the amber-copper color. Faint head, minimal lacing. Aroma and flvor of yeast and caramel.

decent balance between toffeeish malt and grassy hops on the nose. body is thin, which effects thte flavor a little. a little sweeter and breadier than the nose. overall, an ok beer.

These samples were from last season, thus the half off clearance sale. I didn't notice a difference really. Haven't tried this beer fresh yet, so would get this again based on curiosity. Found this to be one of the better domestic Oktoberfests out there. Was liking Sammy's, but wasn't that much into this year's version so sampling different brewers in this style. Found this beer smooth on the mouthfeel, flavor is decent and well balanced....maybe a tad on the sweet side but typical of this style. Light to medium orange appearance. Finding all of Gordon's beers to be decent so far.

A clear, reddish colored bier with a moderate frothy textured, white head rising above. Some hang time with a thin ringlet eventually left behind. A well crafted blended in the nose and taste alike of sweet malt, grassy hops and bitter citrus. The body is moderate to full and creamy on the tongue. Not bad.

Draft pint from the Gordon Biersch in Glendale. The beer poured slightly hazy, deep reddish gold color. White head, thin but good retention. Smell of sweet malts, with hop bitterness. Mild hop flavor matched with a solid sweet caramel malt. Earthy, leafy hop bitterness (not fruity/citrus hops). Medium mouthfeel and body, dry finish. Very nice compliment to my meal, another good one from GB.

This brew pours an amber body with a thin head. overly malted and unbalanced with a slight hop finish. cherries and licorice in the aroma, a dissapointing marzen.

Sampled at one of their brewhouses in San Jose. Has a pour like an IPA and orange brown. Had a smooth drink and a decent flavor. Overall one of the best from GB but not great.

Clear copper with a good head. Malty aroma with a touch of corn. The flavor is full of caramel and almost bready.

Drank the '03 Fest in San francisco with some friends from Germany. I felt sorry for the brewer. Brownish in color, smell of wet paper bags, bland taste, low abv, $4.50 half liter. The Krauts said:"very American". Miss it!
