This one is a little to heavy on the banana and cloves for me. I’ll stick with weihenstephaner.

They have this for $8.99 a 6-pack at Whole Foods, so wanted to try a single first. It's ok beer, but Hefs are usually hit or miss for me....and this really isn't doing it for me. Flavors are opening up a bit as it warms up. Mild banana, wheat, yeast, and grassy flavors. A semi-cloudy medium yellow appearance. I'd put the quality in the category of the European macro brews like Stella, Leffe, & Palm.

Weissbier yellow hazy color with large foam head. Sweet fruity taste, citrus, and nice smooth finish. One of the originals. Taste is citrus, aftertaste turns slightly bitter after a while. (Velp 201201)

Pours a cloudy pale golden yellow in color with moderate amounts of visible carbonation with a medium sized dense foamy off-white head that reduces slowly with a light to moderate lacing. The aroma is moderate to heavy with banana and clove, also there are some lighter hints of wheat. The taste is very similar to the aroma, the predominant flavors are banana and clove (spice) along with some wheat and yeast. The mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with moderate to heavy amounts of carbonation.

Very good version, as you would expect. Nice banana notes in the aroma and flavor. Perfect for a hot summer day. It's very hazy and full of yeast, but not in any way that is off putting to the beer.

A very nice, smooth beer that is always good for session drinking, as well as starting a night of beer tasting. If you have friend who are just your average commercial lager drinkers, this is a good one to have them try, to get thim into the world of quality belgian and craft brews. Very beginner-friendly, yet complex enough to be a session beer for the most jaded beer geek. Recommended!

An orangish/yellow color. Very cloudy with some bright yellow highlights at the bottom. A bright white, rather creamy head with real good size, decent retention and ok lacing. A little more tame in the aroma than most Hefe's To me that's a good thing. All the characteristics of a typical Hefe, with coriander, lemon citrus, cloves, spices and a hint of wheat (grain) and banana, but they seemed to be balanced and more subdued than most. The taste was very reminiscent of the smell. Seemed to have more of the wheat and bread notes than others have and seems to be more laid back with the spices. Balanced pretty well too. I also got a slight bubblegum note. Medium/thin mouthfeel. This beer has a nice relative dry mouthfeel. Crisp and smooth. Easy going. Leaves an ok amount on the palate. I don't know what it is, but I just have never found an outstanding Hefe. None are bad, just all are very similar. It is easy drinking for Summer for sure. I will say that this is one of the better Hefe's that I have had.

Wow... I guess this one is easy to get in the States (but I have never seen it in Canada). I had to come to Doha, Qatar and visit my friend in order to try it. :) Pours a cloudy golden-beige colour with a light beige creamy head that had great retention and thick patchy lacing. A 3mm foam topped the brew and I saw a few darker sediments at the bottom of the glass. Mild dark fruits smell with hints of spices and bread. Refreshing mouthfeel, slightly creamy, slightly watery. Nice spices in the taste, with Belgian yeast reminding me a lot of Unibroue (but lighter overall). An easy drinking Weissbier that is good for sessions.

Poured from a 500 ml bottle into original glass. Aroma has yeast, grains (malt and wheat) and a bit of lemon. It's a murky, hazey yellow colour with a soapy white head on top that stays on remarkably well. Leaves little lacing on the glass. A bit carbonation in the beer itself. Flavour is full, wheaty, citrus and some fresh malts. Incredibly fresh, but too bad the flavour is gone in a snap. Costs some points.

Hazy, dark yellow with a light small head. Very wheaty aroma with a bit of citrus and a bit of yeast present. Wheat, yeast, citrus, banana all present in the flavor. I'm not the biggest yeast fan, but this was was interesting to me.

I drink this quite often because it is 'downstairs'and available in less than a minute. But It IS one of my favorites. It's a lovely pour with strong fruit aroma and taste, yet well balanced with yeasty dinner rolls. It's Thanksgiving dinner in a bottle.. Pass the cranberry sauce, please. :)
