Pours translucent papaya with a thin but serviceable eggshell head. Aroma presents sweet tropical fruit and raw malt. Flavor yields sweet and slightly tart tropical, fresh malt and subtle hop notes. Texture has fair body and lively fizz plus a fruity finish. Is that a touch of passion fruit? Bon bon!

Bottled (from belgianshop a long long time ago). Hazy orange golden colour with mediumsized slightly off-white head. Lacing. Aroma is quite much spices, earth, wood and some slight cardboardy dryness as wel. Flavour is quite grassy, earthy along with some spices, fruits and mild notes of bread and quite big yeastyness. True to the Fantome style, you never know exactly what you will get, but it sure as hell is drinkable.

I’m wondering if my bottle was starting to go bad....? Orange pour, nice head and lacing. Spicy nose. This beer was bold citrus orange malty tartness and a punch packing sour finish. I don’t see so much sour mentioning in the other reviews. Even so (?), I enjoyed it, my dad enjoyed it. I’m going to have to try to come back to this someday, though.

I tried this one at the 2008 Max's Belgian Beer Festival in Baltimore, MD. I didn't pick this for any reason other than it was on the list of Belgian brews on draught and I was working my way down.
One thing that I did notice about this Fantome beer, as well as the Fantome Saison, is that this brewery seems to like it sour. At first I thought it was a flaw in the tap system at Max's, but I soon found it this was the style of the brewery.
The beer poured out a light yellow color with no head at all. It was almost flat looking. Not sure if this was by design or what was going on. There definitely an interesting aroma coming out of the glass. It reeked of things in spring. Not floral, but maybe farm like smells or even grass. I'm not sure how to take that.
Flavorwise, the beer was sour (as I stated earlier). If the beer was intended to be that way, then fine. It wasn't bad. Nothing that I'd rave about, but decent. I really failed to see any of the other flavors that were described here. I'll need to re-examine this one in a bottle sometime. -

Pours a very cloudy pale orange, with a very dense one finger head that fades slowly to a solid layer of foam. The cap leaves behind a thick webbing of lace. Smell; lots of citric fruits with oranges and lemons, but there's also some other tropical fruits with pineapple and mangoes. There's a little bit of tartness swirling around in the back ground as well as bit of a musty funkiness. Taste; wow, the funky, mustiness that was in the background of the aroma is definitely more present in the flavor, but not overwhelmingly so. Once I get past that, the flavor becomes fruity with the tropical and citric fruits, and finishes dry and a bit on the tart side. Mouthfeel/Drinkability; mouthfeel is medium bodied with a nice smooth, almost creamy carbonation, and the drinkability This is my first foray into the world of Fantome, and it was an excellent trip. Hopefully the others that are available around here now are just as good, and refreshing as this one has been.

Bottle: Poured a very hazy dark orangey color ale with a huge foamy off-white head with perfect retention. Aroma of funky yeast with a side of horse blanket is very attracting. Taste is a mix between some sweetness and strong malt presence, sourness and funk from the yeast are just plain great and the slighter bitter hops finish is very rewarding. Body is quite full and alcohol is well hidden. Another masterpiece in this brewery line-up.

Pours wtih a slightly cloudy orange body topped by a medium thick head with a good amount of lacing. It’s slightly sweet and slightly bitter wtih a grassy note, some yeastiness and a slight touch of toffee. Light to medium and dry.

Not a typical saison. Not near as much of the barnyard funk to it. Poured a dark golden color nice lacing and some sedimentation. Aroma was peppery with some funk to it. Flavor was of pepper wheat and hops. FUll mouthfeel.

Lot 086/477044: Not as much funk and barnyard as I was expecting, this one poured with a golden-amber cloudy appearance with a nice large head and lots of sedimentation. Lacing was good. The aroma was slightly funky, but lots of pepper. The flavor was nice smooth wheaty base with some hopping, lots of pepper hopping. The bitterness was welcomed, as this was a very fine Belgian Saison. I loved the interpretation on style with high hopping. Mouthfeel was full and hearty. Great stuff.

Pours a cloudy gold. There is an intense herbal aroma very similar to Deus (also a bit like a slighty green banana). There is a wild grape fruitiness in in this very dry beer.
