Our flagship Ale, Endurance Pale Ale portrays the Second Officer of The Endurance, Tom Crean. More than likely you’ve heard of the Endurance, but in case you haven’t here’s the story.

In 1914, 28 men left England to be the first to traverse Antarctica. When their ship became trapped and crushed by ice off the Antarctic coast, the 28-man crew was stranded on ice floes for seven months, surviving on sea life. The crew eventually managed to row to the deserted Elephant Island in three lifeboats and set up camp.

Realizing they would not survive the frigid conditions, Crean, Shackleton and four mates rigged one of the boats for sailing and navigated through the raging Antarctic seas in search of a whaling station on South Georgia Island. 17 days later the weary crew met land: yet their journey was far from complete. Crean, Shackleton and a third mate then hiked 26 miles of mountains and glaciers before finally hearing the faint blow of the whaling port’s horn. Due to their heroics, all 28 men survived.

Crean returned to his hometown of Annascaul, Ireland, where he married, raised a family, and opened a pub called the South Pole Inn which still serves beer to this day. So raise an Endurance Pale Ale high in honour of Tom Crean and the crew of the Endurance and enjoy one of the finest beers around.

I was not impressed. Pours a cloudy orange with thin white head. Aroma contains some citrusy hops but fairly light. Although taste was slightly bitter, seemed to be a little watery which didn't sit well with me. Just an average pale ale.

This was pretty good. The aroma was somewhat grassy. I found the taste enjoyable-grassy but with a bitter citrus spin to it. It poured a nice cloudy gold color with a thick, sudsy head.

Good stuff poured a cloudy gold with generous frothy head and good lacing. The aroma was sweet with a hint of hops and a pleasently bitter finish. Very good . It would complement a wide range of foods.

I thought this was a pretty good Pale Ale. Pours a bright copper color with moderate head and lacing. Aroma is hoppy, grassy with some fruitiness. Slightly sweet malt flavor with a nice crisp hoppy bite. Not complex but I was pleasantly surprised.

Poured a lightly hazy, golden amber color with a small, white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of light citrus, grassy and floral hops as well, rather weak. Sweet malts balance a simple hop taste. Sweet, with grapefruit bitterness in the finish. The non-existant aroma gave me low expectations for this, but it was drinkable.
