Another really nice beer from Elysian. The pour shows a deep black body with a 1" dark tan head. Aroma is dominated by chocolate but there is some kind of International coffee cream/chocolate/coffee trifecta going on too. Flavor has more chocolate, brown sugar, coffee and vanilla. Very enjoyable beer.

Pours black with small, creamy head and thick sheets of lacing. Aroma boasts chocolate, coffee & vanilla notes. The flavor is dry and roasty with a lot of coffee character. Medium bodied and soft on the palate. Pleasant.

Fantastic brewery, Elysian. I gotta check it out when I get back up to Seattle. 22oz bottle Now *this* is what a porter should look like, IMO. Pours black with a nice thick tan head that lasts a long time and leaves an beautiful lace down the sides of the glass. Bravo. Smells immediately of coffee with dark malts hiding. Tastes really good but it's not very complex and is almost thin. Coffee is there for sure. I'm getting a tiny bit of Cascade hop flavor, but just enough for interest and not enough to make it a stout by a long shot. Mouthfeel is good but a little thin, again. Drinkability is high because there's nothing objectionable here and it goes down very well. I'm sure I'll be reaching for this one again.

This on has an extremely dark brown body with a thin, but creamy, tan head. The aroma is full of sweet chocolate, toast and a touch of prunes. The flavor is full enough to be rewarding, but not enough to really satisfy a chunky dark beer craving and brings in a touch of charcoal. Could really pass for a decent stout.

I had a pint of this beer with Larry Pitonka at Tangletown in Seattle. This beer pours a dark blown to light black color with a thick creamy head leaving some massive lacing on the glass. This beer had some serious nitro qualities to it and almost seemed like it was nitroed given the creamyness of it. The aroma was relatively weak with cocoa and smokeyness and undernotes of chocolate. The flavor is full bodied, with fairly smooth carbonation and a silky mouthfeel...nitro nitro! Heavy chocolate, vanilla and cocoa bean flavors. An interesting, almost dessert like beer...pleasant and warming.

Eclipse black color. Small white foamy head. Aroma is choclately and sweet. A medium bodied Porter. Malts are roasted, chocolate, toffee and smooth. Hops are grapefruity and slightly bitter. The hop bitterness is hidden by the roastyness of the malts, but show up in the lingering aftertaste. Nice balance. Smooth taste. The roastyness of this porter is its strongpoint. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and dry. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Large tan head. Body is a dark brown with a hitn of red at the edges. Aroma is baked bread and roasted coffee. Also hints of old socks. The taste is brown sugar with ints of apples. Also some fresh bread. This is a nice light porter. Older label, this is slightly oxidized. Could use a little more body and flavor.

Not being a huge fan of the porter style, I still thought this one was "goodly" done. A black appearance with a small beige head. The aroma was chocolate, coffee, and some charcoal. The flavor was more on the bitter side with the coffee taking over the chocolate like the submissive little beoch that the chocoalte is. Im not sure what I just typed. The aftertaste is bitter and dry. Overall a good one.
