A well balanced, medium-to full bodied beer, red in color and very flavorful. The red color and slight caramel-roasted flavor comes from generous amounts of caramel malts and a touch of chocolate malts. Well hopped to balance the malty sweetness, and dry-hopped with cascade for a full hop flavor and aroma.

Taps hazy mahogany with a decent buff head. Aroma delivers weak but tempting toasted malt, woody hop and subtle caramel tones. Flavor, happily, is bolder, ramping up all the tones from the aroma, especially the hops, adding a little evergreen bitterness. Mouthfeel features firm, full body and some good fizz. I hear this mermaid singing!

As soon as I poured this, I felt that it may be a bad bottle. Not much fizz and came out murky and color of the Suwannee River. Still had some carbonation and flavor, which saved this beer...but I could tell something was off. Texture a little heavy and flavor has a slight sour to it. Still decent though of caramel malt...mild bitter hop at the end. Just an average amber. I'd bump up the rating a few points if fresh.

Big chewy brew. Moderate to high hopping. Caramel and fruit on the nose. Some chocolate malt in the flavor as well. Not a bad brew, though not quite as I was expecting.

I had trouble noticing any aroma from the bottle or the glass, later a very slight caramel malt smell. Pours a beautiful reddish tan with an intial thick red that dissipates rather quickly. Laces the glass extremely well Taste was magical. I noticed this red was very carbonated, but I wouldnt call it "overly carbonated" or "too fizzy" at all; just perfect. Light banana, floral hop and toasty flavors with a smooth and pleasant aftertaste of the darker malts for a couple blissful minutes. Terrific hop balance, though lately I have enjoyed my reds West Coast style, this is was very tasty. Not an intense red but something I could see myself drinking all night.

This was another sampling from the Yard House. Poured a deep mahagony red that reminded me of the interior of the Hotel Del Coranado. The nose was swwet and smokey with a matching flavorwith a hoppy finish. This is a nice cocktail beer

The second of two bottled offerings from the Coronado Brewing Company. To be honest, both are rather wishy-washy and dull IMO, compared to the more extensive/flavorful offerings at the brewpub itself.

But onto the beer in-hand. I've always liked the Coronado Brewing Company's visual appeal (with the label/logo, etc), and it's a rare day that I give props to a beer for having an attractive label. If only the beer within was as interesting....

Proto-typical in appearence -- nice solid head of foam, some decent lacing, all atop a classical redwood- or cedar-like body.

However, the aroma is a unfortunate harbringer of the lack-luster flavor to come. Specifically, there isn't nearly the sort of aroma profile here that one would assume to find from a Cascade-driven beer (yes, it's true -- someone does use Cascades once and a while here in SoCal, dspite rumors to contrary).

I just wish those self-same Cascades would quite hiding, when it comes to the flavor. It wouldn't quite be matched up to the style, but, still..., a Cascade-heavy Red would be far more interesting than this particular snoozer.

Adequate mouthfeel, with only the drinkability taking a hit in my book due to my increasing boredom with this beer. It hit the spot after moving a full-sized fridge out me and Karen's condo (and down some stairs, and into the garage..., on a warm San Diego day), but even then, I can think of so many other better beers to wet my whistle...

Very cool dark red color. Medium white foamy head. Aroma is malt, sweet, brown sugar and sweet. A medium bodied red/amber. Malts are fruity and sweet. Hops are slightly bitter and spicy. Very malty, it could be a little hoppier. Kind of ramped up amber. Malt seem a little intense. Nicely balanced. Touch of hop bitterness at the finish. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Pours with an amber body topped by a medium thick head with a good amount of lacing. It’s slightly sweet yet bitter and hoppy with piney notes and a touch of grapefruit. A little underlying malt shows through. Medium bodied, slightly dry and smooth.

A deep sea ruby red glow with a nice white wash soapy head. To be honest this has no aroma. A weak, almost broken malt feel to it washed with water. My first from coronado, not bad, but not great, but shit, its still in the game so that counts for something.
