There are only 1000 of these bottled each year, and I had 2 from 2010. An orangeish yellow pour with almost no head. Pine and citrus are the first aromas to hit the nose. Afterwards, some biscuity malt arrives. Flavour is quite hoppy with grapefruit flavours a plenty, slightly balanced by the malt. Excellent!

Bottle: Poured a a copper color ale with large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of bitter hops with some floral notes and a nice caramel malt backbone. Taste is also a nice mix of well balanced bitter hops with some floral undertones and a sizable caramel malt backbone. Body is about average with good carbonation and no sign of alcohol. Very well done, easily drinkable and very refreshing.

Centennial hops upfront and personal in an assertively subtle aroma. Lots of evergreen, flowers, and faint grapefruit. Clear copper color, constant thick head with good lacing. Mouth feel is crisp, it's a lighter bodied IPA. Not overly bitter and sticky-oily in a good way. Rich hop flavor, mostly pine with orange and grapefruit as well. Heavy malt that's slightly sweet and doughy with a touch of honey. Good one from Buckeye, I really like the use of the Centennial hop in this beer.

Poured a hazy copper color with a small, off white head that left spoty lacing on the glass. Aroma of floral, piney hops as well, citrus, and toffee malts. Taste was somewhat nutty, with citrus, light orange peel, more toffee, and a dry, bitter, grapefruit finish.

07.22.04 22oz Bottle from jsquire. Lovely look for this IPA, rich golden, mostly clear, massive sticky off-white head. Huge citrusy aromas with a balancing punch of vegetal maltiness. Body is smooth, thick, sticky, and coating. Sharp and astringent enough to be refreshing, full enough to make for a substantial ’chew’. Wonderful, maybe the best palate of any IPA I’ve had to date. The flavor is all about balance and no one flavor really caught me offguard. I don’t taste much orange, but there is definitely a quality inherited from the orange peel they use - that sort of lip numbing, tart, burning oily quality that you get if you actually chew on an orange peel. A simple and beautiful beer. Only 1000 bottles of this?! Thanks a million for sharing this treat, Jeff!

Medium-dark, slightly hazed copper with a thick and lasting, dense creamy head. Big, hoppy aroma. Lots of spruce and grapefruit with an undercurrent of dried apricots. There’s actually enough malt in this that it shows up with the big hop attack. The hops turn a little raw and ragged in the flavor, but the malt backbone is strong and slightly sweet. This is a really good beer, but wish the hops were a little less harsh in the flavor.

Very easy going Ipa. Light copper colored brew with a decent hop nose. Kind of subdued for an Ipa. Almost British. Not that it’s a bad thing, actually it’s refreshing. Good malt body lending itself, but not being overwhelmed by the hops.

Poured with a dark amber and orange body. The thick off white head is cliging tenaciously to the side of the glass. The aroma is old oranges and pineapples. There is a littel caramel, but the flowery hops are the star. The taste is grapefruit and toffee. I thought the hops woudl be more aggressive, but they are surprisingly restrained. The taste also has some black tea and finishes with a kiss of pine. Surprisingly thin mouthfeel.

Thanks to Sean for sharing this one. Medium brown color. Medium sized white foamy head. Aroma is caramel and a touch floral. A medium bodied imperial IPA. Malts are caramel and sweet. Hops are piney and floral. Tastes more like a barley wine than an imperial IPA. Much more of the malt character is evident than the hops. Smooth tasting, nicely balanced beer. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.
