This ESB is Extra Special. ESB is a national treasure across the pond, so that's where we journeyed to find the malts used in this ale. The malt maker we discovered follows a centuries old formula, and we shipped a whole bunch of it over to make this big, extra special brew. The result is a truly authentic ESB with a few pleasant surprises under its cap from our Brewmaster. Cheers.

A deep brown colored beer a two finger frothy textured, light tan head rising briefly above. Thick film and medium ringlet are left behind. Nose is light chocolate roasty malt. Nice blend of that same roastubness, some coffee in an aftertaste, toffee and dark fruit. Not sure, this is an ESB. Effervescent and medium-full bodied.

Bottle from BeerandBlues2, murky amber-brown pour with a nice off-white type head, solid lacing. The aroma was caramel malts, toffee, fruity esters, some citrus type hops. The flavor followed suit, notes of bread, honey, finishing with a spicey hop touch, slight bitterness. Full malty mouthfeel, but it finishes smooth. Thanks, Brad, nice one.

Very nice beer, and a good score by me as it was deeply discounted at the local grocery store. Amber-bronze in color with a decent sized head and lots of sticky lacing. Interestingly inviting aroma of candy corn, burnt malts, raisins, and bear claws (the doughnut treat, not actual animal parts). Good depth to the mouth feel. Filling, but not too heavy. Malty along with a solid bitterness. Thick malt flavors that are doughy and sweetened. Lots of cereal and syrup combined with raisins and other sugary fruits. A heaping dose of flowery hops lead to a balanced flavor and provide enough bitterness to be intriguing.

Surprisingly dark pour, amber with nice head and lacing. Mild, odd aroma...can’t put my finger on it. Rich sweet malty flavor, some bread and honey notes...not very ESB-like. Whatever, I liked it. Nice blend of maltiness and bittering hops with a pleasing alcohol presence. I would drink this baby again.

This ESB pours a deep brown color from a 12oz bottle. Medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is bready malts and some piney hops. A medium bodied ESB. The malts are bready and caramel. The hops are earthy and floral. Nice balance. Good carbonation. A nice ESB, it starts out malty and sweet and finishes crisp and dry. Would make a nice session beer if it weren’t 7.8 % alcohol. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Pours dark copper with small, scattered head. Aroma is light and unremarkable. The flavor is metallic and bitter with some sweet maltiness to balace. Lacks depth of character. Medium bodied and well carbonated. Decent sample.

Not too bad at all. Pours a nice brown with small cream head. Pretty smooth beer and a joy to drink. Very balanced. Nice hop flavor that is bitter at the start and hangs with you.

From a bottle. Pours a somewhat hazy reddish brown w/ a thin head. Aroma is sweet and slightly spicy. Nice, full mouthfeel. Flavor is well balanced. Starts off sweet, but finishes w/ a subtle bitterness at the end. A pretty good beer, but not the best of their small batch series.

The aroma is sweet and malty with hints of spices. The appearance is a deep rusty reddish orange with a thin, white head that lingers and sticks to the glass. The mouthfeel is light and dry with complexity. The flavor is great starting creamy and then turns into hints of coffee-like java ending dry and smooth and very crisp. Overall, much better than I expected with not too much bitter in the taste.

an extra extra special bitter? i love esb's but i wasn't expecting much coming from this brewery, which frankly puts out some really low end stuff!...
pours a dark rust golden shimmer brown ...
lacing is quite outstanding. the aroma is very nice too. belgian malt, toffee, dark honey, chocolate.. very good in the nose
the mouthfeel is abit thin but for a 7.8 beer, i am happy, glides down the throat and leaves a good aftertaste!
a shock brew from this brewery that has never wow'ed me, well, this beer is a saving grace and honestly, a pure joy to drink!
