Sampled the first time at l'Autre Oeil in Aylmer, Quebec a few years back, and really had enjoyed it. Now, got a 6 pack (2005 edition) at Marché Jovi in Hull. Pours a black colour with very slim red highlights. Big brown foamy-cream head with good retention and nice all-around patchy lacing. Smells roasted malt, candy found in stouts, and of course... the beautiful burnt wood. Mild alcohol and apples too. The mouthfeel is pretty watery with some light stickiness. Good bitterness in the start with a smooth finish of coffee, candy, chocolat and mild smoke lingering away. Nice wood taste shows up late. Very well-brewed smoked porter that is worth it from time to time.

Wintertime around a campfire and with a lot of snow, this beer will be delicious...This beer is pitch black, medium brownish head with some lacing. Aroma there is curiously some feta cheese, smokey wood, roasted coffee.Flavor you find again the roasted coffee and a good measure of bitterness...Avery interesting beer for a hard cold winter...

2005 vintage. Poured blacker than a tax collector’s heart. Gorgeous tan cap lasts. aromas: smokey licorice, woody burnt treacle. massive body...sweet, bready, toasted nutty smoked cocoa...with a sweet but charred bittering finish. Like a lovely bitter-sweet tar coating the palate and mouth. This is a smoked ale I can get behind....the smoke ads to the multi-layered tastesof a thick porter but does not over power...a very nice beer indeed.

Deep black brew with a very strong and distinctive smoke taste. Roated coffee taste wioth a light bitterness taste at the end. The smoke taste is little too present for my taste but overall a good beer. Merci Bièropholie for trying something different.

This porter pours with a dark brown body with a thin tan head and some lacing. The aroma smells like a camp fire (smokey) with a slight malt note. THe flavor is slightly sweet yet bitter and smokey (cigarette smoke) with a slight maltiness. Seems a little thin for a porter, it’s smooth and slightly dry.

Poured a dark brown, not quite opaque color with a large bubbly tan head that left nice lacing. Malty, slightly sweet, smokey aroma. Tastes of chocolate and coffee, smoke was noticed as well. Some hops were also detected. Rather weak mouthfeel. Went well with my smoked prime rib that I ate tonight.
