Dark ruby color, moderate head of foam, big fruity nose. Robust fruity palate is packed with apple-pear character, nice malt backbone, barely balancing hops in the finish.

I liked this this beer. I found a lot of fruitiness and a nice balance of malt and hops. I don't know that I would actually seek this out again, but I was not terribly disappointed.

pours a light reddish brown color, with a thin off-white head that fades quickly and leaves a thick lace on the glass. The aroma is faint but contains caramelized malts, citrus and some hops. The taste is decently balanced with flavors of caramel and citrus and a good burst of hops bitterness. There's a hearty malt character. The after taste is slightly sweet. The mouth feel is smooth and crisp, medium body with medium carbonation.

355 ml bottle, from Vaaland, Bryne. ABV in Norway is 4.7%. Copper coloured beer, large to moderate off-white head. Strong aroma of caramel and treacle, some fruity hints too. The mouthfeel is fairly light. The flavour is moderately malty with notes of caramel, but is not very sweet. Some roasted malts and fruity hops in the finish. I don’t know why this particular beer was chosen for import to Norway, but it is nice enough to drink. Just not America’s best, though.

I bought a single of this few months ago to try out. The beer store had singles on "sale" that they were trying to clear, so I figured I'd give this a shot. I am glad that I did, otherwise I probably wouldn't have tried it. I'd say better than expected....slightly. Basically a red ale...mostly sweet and malty. I would buy again if it's in the $7-$8 range for a six, but I think it's closer to $9 here....so for that price there is probably better............................................ UPDATED 11/20/10- They had this on sale for $8 a 6-pack so grabbed one to try again. Liked it still so went back to grab another. They offered me a case for $20 so jumped on that and took some camping. Got back and grabbed another case for $20, so now still got a full case and getting a little Lobster Aled out...but for that price it's a no-brainer!! Has that "New England" feel and flavor.

Okay, the labeling and the name are a draw. Now down to the serious critiquing. A semi-opaque reddish-brown colored ale. Light tannish frothy head of moderate stature. Some hang time, settling into a nice lacing. A little light in body. The nose is simple, malt and yeasty esters. As this one warms, the taste is malts and gentle hops. This was a good pairing with the salad dish I had tonight.

Got this as a gift from Canandaigua 75 Thakee Not bad stuff poured a redish amber with a medium head. Malty aroma wit a noticable hoppy edge that enhanced rather than overpowered. This beer stood well alone but woud make an OK cocktail beer with snacks, and nibbles

I figured with my palate already semi-shot from the rather turgid Atlantic Brewing Co. Blueberry Ale, I wouldn't be going too far afield by continuing to punish my taste buds with a Red Ale. What does that mean, you ask? Only in that most "Red Ales" are so sicky sweet and cloying as to be down-right nasty, if not difficult to drink.

However.... this particular beer isn't nearly as repulsive as I feared. Rather, it has enough gumption and depth-of-soul to actually have some merits.

Sturdy malt-bill here -- and (thankfully) much more than simply a Pale Ale jacked up with a crap-load of Crystal 60L malt. Still a little teeth-grindingly sweet in the back-end, but not nearly as undrinkable as I would have assumed.

I think if this was pushed as an Amber, it would actually fit the beer a little better, since this is definately sturdy enough there. But then, the "Lobster <----> Red Ale" marketing angle would not have worked, now would it?

I expected the Worst. And while I didn't end up with the Best, I can say that this wasn't bad. Might be interesting with pasta-and-red-sauce, or maybe a meat-lovers pizza deliverd to my hotel room....

Deep amber brown color topped with a thick creamt head. Sweet yet sour malty aroma with a touch of hoppiness. Sweet malt flavor quickly turning hoppy. medium bodied and relatively dry.
