a little nutty and malty, with a slightly hoppy, slightly dry finish. enjoyable enough, but not something i'll buy again. kinda boring in the grand schemee of things.

I had to try this one on the road. Driving through Nevada. Sweet at first then dried out with a nice bitterness. Realy enjoyed it. Gave me quite the buzz, and made the long boring drive shorter LOL

Ruby colored brew with a decent head. Very nice nose which fortells the excellent balance. Good malty backbone with excellent bitterness. Not over done, just right.

Looks like I gotta be the party-pooper with this beer.... How so? Only that I can't give it nearly the glowing remarks that other folks have.
Looked interesting enough -- a beer that also produced a fair amount of lacing and such. And the aroma? Once this warmed up some, not unappealing in the nose.
But my complaint about this beer is where the rubber meets the road -- the flavor profile. Basically, it's entirely too sweet and cloying for me. Seems to follow the ussual path of many other previous brewers. That is to say, I'm guessing that entirely too much Crystal malt was used in the mash. Yeah, it'll give the beer an attractive red-ish glow -- but will also throw off the overall balance of the beer. Syrupy and overall too sweet, IMO.
The sugar-coating in my mouth kills the drinkability of this beer for me. To be honest, I dumped the last third of this beer down the drain. Too many better beers in my fridge to bother with this.
A Trader Joe's special, but at least this is a real brewery and brewpub up in the Sacramento area. But when I find myself up in Sacramento again, I'm not so sure if I'll stop by the brewpub, if this beer is any sort of representative of their typical offerings....
Music: Karl Sanders' "Saurian Meditation".

Pours with a deep red body topped by a thick, off-white head with some lacing. The aroma is slightly sweet and malty with a note of flowers, a touch of carmel, some fruity notes, and a slight hoppiness. The flavor is similar with a bit more bitter hoppiness to it and a slight medicinal note. Medium bodiied and slightly warming.

Med red color. Large head. Aroma is roasted malts, caramel and chocolate. A full bodied Red Ale. Big flavored chocolate and caramel malts. Hops are bold, bitter and grapefruity. This is a pretty aggressive beer, yet there is some smoothness to it as well. Interesting red ale. Mouthfeel is full and creamy. Finish is dry. Aftertaste is bitter.

Beautiful clear red color w/ a frothy head, this is an enjoyable one to drink. Very full mouthfeel w/ lots of hop flavor & a dry finish. thanks beerguy101
