two problems with this beer (the second may be a brewery wide issue)...the lack of chocolate in this chocolate porter, and an astringency that just does not work in the style. otherwise, it could have been a nice, roasty, medium bodied porter, but those two issues with the aroma and the flavor just kinda ruined it for me. not impressed with bayhawk so far...

Very strange brew here, it reminded me of a flemish sour upon first taste through the finish. Fruity sourness with the chocolate making a brief apperance in the end. Mouthfeel was watery, with a very slightly carbonation bite. Overall i really didnt care for it much.

Bayhawk Chocolate Porter 3.7 cheapdark Very nice friendly very dark american lager pour. Mild and well mannered aroma. Roasty wood backgroujnd on taste buds. Sharp tingly sizzling fiss on the palate. Almost comes across like a sour porter, very nice, I like. A little acidic and quite interesting. Taste is pretty good for this redneck. I think i’m psychotic, but is it possible to have a sour porter? I detect many sour attributes in here. Very nifty, did I say i like? Great finish, this bomber dissapeared like a 12 oz. Big thenks to cquiroga for a chance to taste thios brew. Very good tasting experience!

While this one was subtle on the chocolate that isn't always a bad thing. I liked the balance this brew had and the smooth silky mouth feel. I enjoyed this with roast pork a grat deal. Overall a very nice brew

This beer wasn't bad, it was just boring. And if you call it a "chocolate porter" you'd better damned well have something chocolate show up in either the taste or aroma. This had neither. While it lacked the necessary qualities to be a drain pour, this might do the next best thing which would be to use it to pour over something if it were on fire. Nothing redeemable about this beer at all. Water has more of an aroma than this beer. An appearance of a dark rootbeer brown with garnet highlights at the edges. Mouthfeel was watery. Flavor.....what flavor. No chocolate, no malts, no sweetness...a very tiny bit of roasted malts perhaps and that's stretching it. Basically a beer for those that like lifeless, bland, do-nothing beers.

Boring and disappointing. I was expecting lots of chocolate and coffee flavors, but this was bland, dull, and watery. Not even as dark as I was expecting. Could it be this was just a bad batch? I doubt it, reading everyone else's reviews. Apparently these guys need to work on their recipe.

Dark black color. Medium bodied. Aroma is chocolate with a touch of roasted malts. A light bodied porter. Malts are roasted and choclately. But it a VERY lactic tasting porter. Taste is thin and watery. Not much flavor. Possibly infected? Not very good either way, Drain pour. Mouthfeel is thin. Finish is dry. Aftertaste is sour.

Not much going on here. Everything this beer does is way too mellow. Typical everything in a porter with a thim mouthfeel and watery finish. Nice swing top bottle though.

"An average chocolate brew. The color resembles 6000 mile motor oil. A slight roast of the malts is present, but the chocolate and butterscotch flavors overwhelm. A slight amount of coffee, but nothing impressive."

This porter pours with a dark brown body topped by a thick head with a decent amount of lacing. The aroma is slightly sweet and malty with a slightly sour note and a hint of chocolate. Really unimpressive and weak aroma. I expected more. The flavor is slightly sweet yet slightly bitter and malty with a slight hint of chocolate and a sourness that takes away from anything good. There is a slight hoppy bitterness in the finish. Medium to full bodied and smooth.
