Inspired by traditional English ESBs, our Calico Amber Ale is as American as it could be. A rich complexity comes from four types of malt—but it’s those distinct American hops that offer a crisp bitterness and unique floral aroma. To round out our traditional-English-yet-very-American Amber Ale, we use a proprietary yeast to develop a fruity, Madeira-like richness. Try one today, and find out what a gold medal beer tastes like!

Not a bad brew. Nice dark copper on the pour. Small head, but nice lacing on the glass. Noticable hops, with malt sweetness to balance it out. Dry finish.

I really liked this beer - quality red/American amber. This could be the new standard bearer red for me. Not a malty mess and hopped well. Really enjoyable beer - pretty color.

Comes out of the growler a clear mahogany with a fairly thick golden-buff head. Fruity, malty aroma is fairly strong and tempting. Flavor has a malty core with fruity and hoppy notes and a tinny snippet. Texture is smooth, but not too firm or fizzy. Still, a good catch.

Pours a semi cloudy darker amber with a one finger head that takes its time. No noticalbe carbonation in the glass. Aroma is fairly straight forward, light on the hop and malts, slightly sweet. Taste is fairly dry and very light on the flavor. Slightly sweet. Very boring and bland.

A murky amber colored beer with a two finger fluffy textured, off white head that rises briefly above. There's some retention on the head. A thin ringlet is finally left behind. Nose is toffee. The tasting a nice dance of caramel malt and bitter grassy hops. Effervescent. light and refreshing.

Orange to amber, foamy two fingers width tall and takes some time to reduce down to one fingers width, leaving some spotty lace. A nice hop aroma upfront mixed in with some sweet malts and a little background fruit. Some hops in the taste upfront with this one consisting of mainly pine but with a good amount of bitterness blended in as well. The malts take control but the bitterness is omnipresent.Smooth to the sip with solid, mild carbonation and a sort of sticky feel to it. Not the most complex beer in the world or the strongest but a very solid performance from a good amber ale. It is pretty straightforward but does have a good balance and nice hop taste to it.

A truly crafted American Amber, wonderful example of what this style should be. Chestnut colored body, frothy sandy head with spots and streaks of lacing surrounding the glass. Perfectly balanced between supple malts and floral hops. A nice juicy hop bouquet with citrus & passion fruits followed by a mild nutty & caramel base. Pleasant yeastiness and well rounded. This is what I imagine when I think about the American Amber style.

I can see the high ranking for this amber. The maltiness is very pleasant, with just enough hops so it's not overly sweet. Well done in-style........

One of those forgetable brews. Average all around. Balance is ok, a tad on the rusty side. Typical caramel malts, etc. I am thinkin that I just prefer brown ales over ambers, so naturally these styles get lower ratings from me. Glad that I sampled a single, b/c I wouldn't really want a 6-pack of this.

Bottled@Konttori, Tampere. Amber colour, mediumsized beige creamy head. Some lace. Aroma is caramel malts, grass, toffee and some mild spicyness. Flavour is quite much the same. The spicyness is dominating though. Nice wooden and grassy aftertaste.

Reddish brown no cap. Nice bready malt aroma with not really a citrus or a pine hop but something between, the hop is perfect in the aroma it’s there without going over the top. Taste is the same nice smooth malt, with a touch of bitter hop. Bread, citrus, wood, pine, and muffins are all in hear. Good beer I like it.
