Purchased at the Liquor Control Board of Ontario Store. This comes packaged in a nice tissue cover. The beer pours a dark reddish brown with a light brown bubbly head. The aroma is funk, tart fruit, yeast, and grains. The flavour is tart cherries, some sweet malt, and more of the yeast and earthy funk.

The style my mother aways drank. Clear ruby, tanned lacing foam head. Nice sour aroma and light sour taste. Real drink kick on first sip. Nice. (Velp 201602)

Poured with a brown body topped by a thin light tan head that left slight lace. Aroma is sour cherries with faint wood and vinegar. Mouthfeel is brightly carbonated and light to medium bodied. Flavor is green apple, tart cherry, sweet grainy malt and a slight acidic vinous quality that seems strange for a beer with such a low ABV.

375 ml bottle, paper-wrapped. Poured in the original Bacchus stemmed tulip glass an unfiltered and hazy brown-red coloured FOB with a short one finger tan foamy head that had a small retention and tons of micro bubbles. Soft carbonation. No lacing. The aroma is sourish red fruits, cherries, berries, candied sugar, faint caramel malts and a vinegar touch. The flavour is sourish fruits, cherries, raisins, woody and vinous notes, a point of vinegar. The mouthfeel is crispy, sparkling, sourish and tarty. The texture is watery. This light to medium bodied FBO has a dry sourish fruits finish. A well refreshing and well brewed Flemish Oude Bruin, true to the Flemish tradition. I like it.

Highly tart brew from our friends at Van Honsebrouck. Tart yet with the same characteristics of a Belgian Sour. Tastes like dried citrus with a soapy texture on the buds. Gives off an aged persona, like it's been sitting in wood barrels for some time. Solid head retention from the bottle pour that melts quickly into a thin lacing. Juicy finish. Not a bad catch. And one of the nice Belgian brews I received for playing Santa for a bunch of wee folk.

pours a large khaki-colored head with active, fat carbonation which very slowly dissipates and leaves a little lace. The aroma is tart, wooden notes with a slightly sour with a caramel malt. The taste is tart very tart with some cherries and some fleshy fruits and is sour and not well balanced. The mouth feel has some fizzy carbonation, slight dry finish.

Fruity, sweet and sour acidic aroma. Bubbly feel, light-medium bodied. Flavorful, hinting at tart apple and cherry. Acidic and malty without being overly aggressive in the sour department. Good session able sour and/or food beer. Glad I got 2.

Aroma is strong, yeasty and fruity. Pours a dark, slightly hazy brown with a thick, fine-bubbled, persistent light tan head. Rich and fruit flavor is more like a cider than a beer, with a firm apply tone and hints of malt and yeast. Hmmmmmm - don't believe I've ever had a Flanders Oude Bruin before! Smooth texture has good fizz, firm body, and an interesting nip to it. A refreshing and distinctive beer.

Paper-wrapped green bottle from the LCBO. Pours a copper colour with ruby highlights. Its head is beige, creamy, big, long-lasting and the lacing it leaves behind is pretty thick. Mild balsamic vinegar scent with notes of fruits (cherries, apples) and sweet butterscotch in the background (after breathing a while). Tons of tiny-tiny bubbles float to the top, making it very carbonated. Wet mouthfeel and medium-thin bodied. The taste is pretty light, almost watered-down. Slight sourness at first, but dissipates quickly into a very calm cherry/apple finish. A small amount of wood comes out in the aftertaste. Looks good, smells good, but does not deliver in other departments. A decent introduction to Old Browns for those who have never tasted them.

Wrapped 375ml crown topped wine bottle: Poured a murky rusty-red in the tulip. Smallish tan cap reduces to a surface lace and is kept afloat by the lively carbonation. Aroma is that of a straight forward Vlaams Brun: Vinous, aetic, fruity, some funk, a waft of spice and earthiness – enhances as it warms. Tart sour character, peppery mouth feel, light bodied. Flavor is much like the aroma with the vinous acetic blast in front followed by a wee bit of sweetness and a fast clean tart puckering finish with a funky kiss at the end. Top flight sour Brun.
