Pours out a dark black color with a thin head. The aroma is of oak smoke of a old fire. The mouthfeel is solid. The taste has light hints of bacon bits.this one ain't sweet and it ain't bitter or sour. It's not complex but it's very interesting.

I would classify this as a Baltic Porter. Not overwhelming on the smoke. Flavor of chocolate/coffee...some good bitter hops and burnt sugar at the end. Decent balance. Aroma is a litte soy-saucy, and feel could be slighty smoother...but besides that no complaints really. Solid beer for the strength!

This 8% brews aroma is dominated by roster malts, mocha, and smoke. The smoke is even more subtle in the flavor. Flavor is roasted malts and mocha, hops & dark fruit. Robust yet dry in the finish, which shows a tiny bit of the smoke. Brewed by ass kisser ales AT Hermitage. I can't believe Hermitage actually conceived and brewed this as its sooo much better than nything I've had from them.

A nice beer, and compared to the regular beers that are brewed by Hermitage, this is a step up from their regular pedestrian brewing results. The aroma has some moderate sweetness, bakers chocolate, and a light bacon-y/smoked deli meat/burned paper thing going. The sweetness really melds well with the malts and the smokey notes really carry thru during the different temperature changes. Not super complex, but quite enjoyable. -

A dark brown, rd tinged colored beer. A big frothy textured, brown head rising robustly above. Settles into a thin ringlet and light dusting aside the glass. The profile in the nose and more pronounced on the tongue is smoky, and burnt molasses. Light medium bodied and smooth.

The appearance is an almost black color with a carbonated white head. The aroma contains hints of smoke, chocolate, coffee, mocha, and vanilla extract. The flavor is somewhat bitter and dry with more smoke in the flavor than the aroma. It also contains some hints of dark chocolate and licorice. The finish is quite bitter and dry. Overall a fairly nice porter especially for those who aren’t into sweeter porters.

Nice near-black pour, with a tight and tall beige head which leaves very adequate lacing throughout drinking. Subtle smoke aroma, almost sweet smoke, cocoa, very light mocha, well-roasted malts. Subtle smoke in the flavor also, with a lightly sweet and toasted maltiness, some cocoa and java, a touch of burnt brown sugar. Definitely a porter, not heavy enough for a stout. Nicely and subtly smoky; great with grilled steak.

Aromas of chocolate, Licorice and light smoke, average black body, but the head was nice and thick, and left some good lace. Flavor was a little off- the licorice, and smoke showed first with a decent bitter chocolate finish were ok, but what threw me off was a hint of canned peas, weird. As it warmed it did get a little better, overall it wasn't bad but the strange taste lowered the score.

Strong, pleasing aroma is smoky and oily with hints of hops and licorice, demanding a taste. It pours a deep, rich sable with a decent light tan head. Flavor is smoky with definite tones of burnt wood, malt and molasses and a hint of caramel. Texture is thick, smooth and just a little tingly. This should please any porter fan!
