The success of Rickard’s Red over a decade finally prompted Labatts to do something and Alexander Keith’s Red Amber Ale was born. A very clear reddish-brown pour, it comes with a generous off-white head. The aroma is dominated by off-notes of metallic caramel, stale grains, and weak spicy hops. The flavour is a mish-mash of everything with acidic notes thrown in for good measure.

Clear darker orange color with off-white decent foam head. Aroma is sweet caramel, taste is bitterweet with a drop of sweet raisin. Crispy bit short aftertaste. (Ottawa 201210)

I've tried this on several ocassions and I have yet to finish it. Colour - clear amber, medium tan head. Aroma - metallic grains. Mouthfeel - thin. Flavour - acidic and metallic tones. Overall - awful.

Poured a lovely clear amber red with lots of carbonation. Thin off-white head that disappeared quickly. Minimal lacing. Something in the aroma I did not particularly like...medicinal almost? Simple tasting, harmless enough and drinkable, though not memorable.

Pours a beautiful clear red/amber with a medium sized, creamy off white head. the head fades to a the layer and a ring arouns the outside after a few minutes. Leaves some light lacing behind. Kinda sweet, mainly malty aroma. Mouthfeel is thin with medium carbonation. The flavour is nothing special, starting out malty with a weak bitter finish. Overall this is pretty average, at best.

A nice transparent red colour like Cherry Kool-Aid. From that point on, I prefer the Cherry Kool-Aid. The beer had a very weak aroma. The mouthfeel was watery (yes...Cherry Kool-Aid has more body). The flavour was hard to distinguish. The one thing I did notice about the beer was that it was very heavy on the stomach (unlike Cherry Kool-Aid)

Nice looking amber ale, actually was quite a red color when held to the light. Clear liquid with an off-white head with good retention and some thin lace. Some caramel malty aroma. Slightly sweet, malty flavor. Smooth, low carbonation made it slightly creamy mouthfeel. Comparable to Rickards Red, I would drink this before Keith's IPA.

At first the beer looked good when it was dropped off in front of me but after a closer look it started to look cheap and fake. Quarter inch cap capped off this reddish brown body, the body seemed way to clear and light looking for the brew, looked fake. Smell was all sour strong malt with a very out of place banana and melon aroma coming through, very unpleasant. Taste is almost unbearable strong sour malts that finishes very sweet and bready with a large amount of chemical flavours are in the mix. I was kind of excited for this it is a new beer on tap here in Edmonton and that doesn’t happen to often, but dam this is just bad, if I was at home I would have dumped it.

It was a nice red colour with a small tan-coloured head. The aroma was slightly malty. The taste was decent. Not very malty, and not metallic. I prefer Rickard’s Red to this Red.

Finally tried bottle version after having tried the draught version awhile back. This is easily Keith's best brew and better than Rickard's. Nice caramaly aroma. Great taste. Average Mouthfeel.
