Yazoo's first fall seasonal - brewed as an ale with top-fermenting yeasts representing an Old German Fest-Ale. Fall Ale is made with all German malts - Munich, Vienna, Cara malt, and a little bit of Rye. It’s generously hopped with Hallertauer and Tettnang hops from Germany. It’s an ale, not a lager, but it’s loosely based on a typical Octoberfest beer, with our own twist with the Rye malt.

This poured a orange to copper color with a white head. The aroma was fairly straightfoward with some caramel, rye, and citrus. The flavor was more bitter than your typical oktoberfest which was a nice touch. I tasted some caramel, lemons, and rye. Overall not amazing but some ok session stuff.

Brewer told me that this is an ALE not a lager. Closest thing to an Oktoberfest/Alt without being either. Nice clear amber pour with a decent white head and good lacing. Smoky, earthy, nutty, slightly fruity aroma with a good amount of maltiness and hops. Taste is a bit smoky, nutty, malty and slightly sour with a slight bitter finish. Like a mix of several styles. But good.
