Courtesy of Quake1028. Pours fairly dark but not opaque with dark brown head. The aroma is light with a mixture of roasty malts, burnt malts, faint wood and hints of fruity esters. The taste starts roasty and chocolaty. It becomes both sweet and burnt malts by midway. Into the finish a faint spice hoppiness shows up for a moment before more chocolate malts join back in along with a mild oatmeal twang and malt roastiness.

My first taste of an oatmeal stout. The price was right, 96 cents a 12 oz bottle at Beaver Valley Beverage in Monaca PA so I gave it a try. I was surprized that I needed a real bottle opener to get the top off! It has a lovely inviting chocolate smell in my three stooges glass, something like a quality fudge-sicle. An initial taste revealed a creamy chocolate surprize...much more chocolate than mackesonxxx. Does not have quite the burnt charcoal flavor as Mackeson xxx and is just a little thinner. Very impressive. Has that real stout flavor. I could drink many of these at a time. Just a little bit of bitterness in the aftertaste.

Poured with little to no head. Black color. Lightly bready, malty nose, very faint though. Medium body, thin, light creaminess. Very mild upfront, inbetween, or ending flavors ceptin fer some faint roastiness and chocolate notes. Dry finish, nuthin. Frederick killed the Goose.

Got a single of this today to try. Never saw them before...Wild Goose. Been seeing some new Oatmeal Stouts and Porters, so deciding to sample them since they are two of my favorite styles. This one was OK for me, but nothing special. Seemed a bit thin, not necessarily watered down though. Aroma a little on the sour side, but also nutty from the oatmeal. Dark dark brown appearance. The flavor is there, but nothing that overwhelmingly stands out. Worth the single, but dunno if I'd get it again.

Pours an almost black color with a medium off-white head. Smells of smokey malts and a bit of a chocolate aroma. Taste is similar to the smell. Not bad.

Poured a dark brown with lighter brown head. The aroma and taste were sweet and malty. There were hints of cocoa. The head faded fast with almost no carbonation. This would be good in small amounts as a nightcap.

A hard day at work, and a conscious effort to find a craft beer that is new. A stop at Albertson’s. Yes, Albertson’s has presented a nice selection of unique craft beers. And when I find an Oatmeal Stout I’m like a kid in a toy store. Nice label of geese. The ale pours with a black colored body. A medium frothy tannish head with little hang time. That’s disappointing, but it settles into a soapy lacing. The body is smooth though ever so slightly light/watery. Not as robust a body as I prefer in this style or in stouts generally. The aroma is subtle but speaks of oats, chocolate and java. The java-cholate assaults the palate and that isn’t bad. Certainly not to be ranked among the best, but really not a bad drink This beer went well with oatmeal cookies..

From a bottle. Pours an opaque dark brown/black with an off white head. Aroma is sweet and caramely. Flavor is sweet, some chocolate notes. Nice bitterness at the end. An ok beer overall.

Pours dark brown/black with an inch tan frothy head. Aroma is not strong. Roasted malt dominates the nose but caramel, toffee and a sugary sweetness hide in the background. Notes of toasted malt, toast, coffee, chocolate, vanilla, and a light finish of hops. A pretty weak Oatmeal Stout.
