Dark, complex and delicious, a strong, flavorful Oatmeal stout. Enough hops to balance the large amounts of dark and roasted malts, with the addition of oatmeal creating a creamy smooth drinkability.

Pours an opaque dark-chocolate brown with just a hint of a light tan head. Smoky aroma has quality coffee, semi-sweet chocolate and molasses tones plus hints of licorice and toffee. Mouth-filling flavor has a firm smoky overtone and molasses, quality coffee, chocolate, licorice and toffee flavors - delicious! Smooth yet lively texture leaves a smoky and fizzy finish. Recommended!

Dark mahogany brown pour, very tall light tan head, nice lacing. Sweet roasted malts aroma and initial taste, velvety smooth mouthfeel, some light molasses and near burnt toast, nice earthy and adequate hops presence. Very well crafted. Very smooth.

On tap at Ninkasi in Eugene. Brownish black. Full on milk chocolatey nose with balanced roasted malt character. Faint hops. Flavors are subtly sweet. Not over powering. Chocolate again, caramel and smooth hop finish.

sampled on 3/5/10. 22oz bottle with mitch. pours black, black, black. no light comin thru. medium/thick creamy head. aroma is roasty, chocolate, coffee. taste is very roasty, coffee, chocolate. not quite as creamy and full as an oatmeal stout. over roasty for what i expected. body is medium. aftertaste is a little bitter.

    22oz bottle -

Excellent stout for a cold winter’s evening. Aroma of chocolate cereal, caramel, paper and light mocha. Roasty notes seem to take a backseat to the chocolate character. Appearance is beautiful...black, frothy tan cap, 1" thick...long lasting. Flavor is just a plethora of chocolate and caramel, but nicely balanced with a earthy bitter angle. The sikly mouthfeel perfectly amplifies the chocolate notes and makes for a wonderful pint of beer. For less than $5, this is a great, great beer.

22 oz bomber from Pt Roberts (WA) Marketplace. Poured an inky black body under a smallish tan head. Aroma was of coffee, dark chocolate, and roasted malts. Taste was damned good, lots of the aforementioned nose treats also there to please the palate. Mouthfeel was quite alright for a stout. Smooth finish.

96/96 on ratebeer (as a sweet stout), and i can see why. this is a big, dry, smooth, choclatey oatmeal stout. very well done. one of the best in this style i've had in a while.

Great brown head with a variety of bubble sizes. Aroma is like hot chocolate with hints of roasted nuts. Dark brown with almost no light passing through. Not all that sweet. Finish is very dry. Medium body but feels pretty potent. Overall a very good beer. Looking forward to trying the other 3 bottles that came in the 22oz sampler pack.

Sampled on 3/5/2010. This sweet stout pours an eclipse black color from a 22oz bottle. Medium to full sized white foamy head. The aroma is chocolate, coffee and a touch of vanilla. A medium bodied sweet/oatmeal stout. The malts are roasty, chocolate and coffee. The hops are herbal. Nice carbonation. Seems a little overly roasted and a touch thin in the mouth for a oatmeal stout. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Bottle, home. The mouthfeel works against this otherwise great beer. It’s just a tad too thin to support the roasty, coffee bean fruitiness of the malt. I think more chocolate flavor would come out if the beer had a creamier feel. There’s cocoa, roast, raisin-sweet malt and a touch of hops, though less than expected. The beer is somewhat acidic and of moderate sweetness. It’s an excellent value, better than many similar stouts. Thanks for starting distribution here, Ninkasi.
