Hopheads and dark beer lovers alike, this beer is for you. This 9.6% ABV beast of a beer is black as night and dry hopped like a double IPA. We use de-husked black malt to achieve a dark color without the astringent flavors normally found in stouts.

    Aroma: 10 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 9 | Flavor: 10 | Overall: 10

Comes out of the tap.a rich, warm sable just a whisker above jet - not much head, but that is apparently an artifact of the pour. Strongly hoppy aroma is mainly resins, like a superior IPA, with hints of roast malt and licorice. Powerful flavor floods the palate with hops, woody and resiny; roast malt, and hints of coffee and licorice. Smooth, firm texture has a strong alcohol bite so you feel it going all the way downstairs. Get ruff with this Ruffian! (But not TOO ruff - or at least call a cab.)

Mini growler, from brewery. Near black pour, light tan head, nice lacing. Rich roasted malt aroma and flavor, very slight licorice with some pine and chocolates, subtle coffee, big dose of earthy and slight pine hops, great bitter linger. Well done and well-hidden ABV. Basically an Imperial American Black Ale but BeerPal doesn't have that as a beer category; so just ABA. Good stuff.
