A trip back to my hometown of Westminster, MA always includes picking up a 6-pack of whatever is the seasonal Wachusett Brewing Company beer. This time it was the Octoberfest. After a summer full of fruity and light beers, a well crafted Octoberfest really hits the spot. In pouring the beer into a pint glass, you are greeted by a very nice, dark amber brew. The head on this beer is exceptional. As you drink this brew down, you are left with some great "head rings" around the glass on it's way down...that is, assuming you don't get excited and chug the whole brew down. This beer is extremely smooth and drinkable with a slight aftertaste. Flavorwise, it is everything that you'd expect in an Octoberfest. They don't make the mistake that some breweries do and overload the beer with spices. This is a very well crafted beer that I recommend.

This poured a nice dark amber color with a thin head. The aroma was pleasant-a little spicy. The taste was quite good with a hint of spices and a faint smokey flavoring that was perfect on a cold evening-typical of an Octoberfest brew.

poured a clear copper with white head that was long lasting and substantle. the flavor was of mild malt with a clean well balanced fininsh that left no aftertaste. The mouth feel was light which I find a good trait in an octoberfest. Went realy well with smoked almonds

On draft at the Sole Proprietor in Worcester. Poured the usual amber-orange color with an ok initial head that produced good lacing. The aroma was light bready, only slight spiciness, lacking toast character. The flavor was pretty boring, more of an amber ale type flavor (minus hops), some caramel and bread, no toast, no spiciness. Rather dry finish, slightly acidic. Surprised to see it do so well within style, didn't do it for me.
