2020 Description Keep a sturdy grip on this hand-forged ale. It is an alloy of premium two-row Alberta barley, roasted to a black malt and infused with quantities of potent, bitter hops. Stalwart and bold, it will douse the coal-fired thirst, slake the spirit and clear the soot from the teeth. ABV: 5.4% BITTERNESS: 33 IBU HOPS: Galena and Cascade. MALT: Premium Alberta Pale Malt, Imported (UK) Caramel Malt, Black Malt. 2015 Description Keep a sturdy grip on this hand-forged ale. It is an alloy of premium two-row Alberta barley, roasted to a black malt and infused with quantities of potent, bitter hops. Stalwart and bold, it will douse the coal-fired thirst, slake the spirit and clear the soot from the teeth. A distinctly dark and flavourful ale that carefully balances the sweet flavours of the dark malts with the bitterness of the hopping. Citrus aromas balanced with roasted espresso, chocolate and licorice. Malt: A combination of Premium Alberta Pale Malt and Imported (UK) Caramel and Black Malt. Hops: 2 Hop Additions using Nugget and Cascade Hops

Pours a deep copper brown colour, see-through, clean with a beige head and decent lacing. Nutty aromas with roasted malt notes and mild caramel, coffee. Roasty flavours with fruity notes, light hops in the finish. Decent easy-going brew.

Another "gift" from a family member who did not want the dark beers from a mix pack; this is not one I'd have purchased for myself, but I'm not one to decline free beer (unless it is Corona, of course!). Mahogany pour beneath a miniscule beige head. Coffee and caramel for the nose. Is this a clone of some Big Rock beer? No, thankfully it was slightly better but not b much. Mouthfeel just above average. Subdued flavour, echoed the aroma. Mild finish. Strictly average.
