12oz bottle poured into a shaker. The aroma is predominantly a smokey, roasted and burnt grain quality with a light chocolate and light coffee just beneath it. It pours a dark, oily mahogany color with a smooth, clear and clean, reflective surface. There’s a light patch of wispy head at the start, but it disappears quickly and it leaves very little to no lacing. The taste is a medium bitter with a medium light sweetness. The oily, medium-light bodied beer has a zippy carbonation. It’s quite easy drinking. The flavors are mostly roasted malts and nuts, finishing with coffee grounds and a clean, fresh, herb-like crescendo. The aftertaste is light notes of coffee and bread.

The last in the "Pick Your Own 6-Pack" from the local superstore. Pours dark brown with a small tan, but quickly disappearing head. Chocolate, deeply roasted malt (almost burnt) and coffee aromas lead the sensory attack. The roasted malt is the dominate flavor complimented by the chocolate and coffee. A hint of vanilla. A nice balance of sweet and bitter. Mouthfeel is a bit on the thin side. A pretty solid porter, but nothing stands out about it.

Pours a very dark brown with almost no head what-so-ever. Aroma is heavy of roasted malts with slight hints of dark chocolate and coffee. Taste is very heavy on the dark chocolate, almost overwhelming but it balances perfect with the overall malty textue of the brew. Finished off slightly dry with a deepening chocolate tang. Overall a nice brew.

Acquired in a trade, this porter was served in a pint glass from a 12 oz. bottle. It pours almost black with ruby edges, and a smallish mocha head which settles to a coating. The lacing is quite nice, coating the glass thickly most of the way through. The nose is coffee and some bitter dark chocolate. The taste isn’t that overpowering dose of coffe I tend not to love, but instead a nice blend of roasted coffee, dark chocolate, licorice, and some semi-bitter hops. The aftertaste is also not overpowered by the coffee. Mouthfeel is creamy, thinner than I expected, probably medium with moderate carbonation. This would be a nice session beer if it were available around here which sadly it is not. Worth a try if you can get it.

Pours a black color with a light brown head. Had some decent lacing. The aroma was entirely mild with hints of roasted malt poking through and nuances of burnt toast. The flavor was predominately coffee with a dry malty finish.

Thank you pfoxyjohn for this smooth porter. Pours a deep brown mahogany with a thin head and some lacing. Decent carbonation. Aromas of weakly toasted malts with a slight chocolateness. Taste is more than the aroma with a rich chocolate malt creaminess and a nice hops bitterness in the dry finish. Very nice.

Bottle from Bockyhorsey. Pours a brown color, some light mahoganey edges, good head and lacing. The aroma was nice roasty cocoa-chocolate, faint notes of lactic/fruity elements (but in a nice way, subtle, supportive). The flavor was much the same, ever so smooth, wonderfully melded together in a style that typically is ho hum for me. Mouthfeel was a touch on the light to medium side. Nevertheless, an excellent job on this one, perhaps among the best porters I've had. Thanks much, Bill and Wendy, you win some and lose some (well w/ beer, rarely a true loss), this was a winner!

This porter pours a eclipse black color from a 12oz bottle. Medium sized beige foamy head. Aroma is chocolate and coffee, touch of vanilla and sweetness. A lighter to medium bodied porter. The malts are chocolate and coffee. The hops are floral and earthy. Nicely balanced, easy drinking porter. Lively carbonation. Nice balance. Decent porter. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter, some roasty malts.

Pours a deep black colour with a nice caramel malted taste, and soft chocolate undertones. Not too rich. Thin head, basically little to no lacing, a little watery at times.

This beer looks beautiful, deep brown color with an intense ruby hue and a thick creamy tan head. The aroma is lacking, however -- like cooked, rather than roasted, grain. The mouthfeel is full and smooth and the palate finds some of the roasted malts, but just a little too reserved. A nicely balance finish with good hop presence around mild roasted malt flavors.
