Cream ales have become the new style of the summer for me. I had Genese and maybe a couple others before last year, but I appreciate a quality ice cold cream ale during the hot weather. This might not be balanced quite the way I prefer....tad too much vanilla and a little underhopped, though there is some decent flavor in there and a semi-smooth refreshing feel. 2nd sample from Thomas Creek. Finding them good but not great.

A bright medium gold colored brew with a thin off white head. Sugar cookies! This is mostly what I smell. There is also some hay. This tastes a lot more dry than I expected. There is also lots of wood and some hints of the sugar cookie character, but it is very light and in the finish. A little bit herbal, this one is decent. The vanilla is barely detected. Not one of Thomas Creek’s best efforts.

Overall a very nice cream ale, the vanilla content is excellent. Golden body along with a big ol' white head. Grassy with a hint of corn and a splach of sweet vanilla. Interesting take on this style, it works well.

A bright sunshine colored beer with a moderate fluffy white head rising briefly above. Settles into amedium sized ringlet. Grassy malt nose. Vanilla emerges boldly in the tasting. Light bodied and crisp like a pale lager.

Faint smell of vanilla on the nose. Yellow pour with a nice white head. For me the vanilla flavor was subtle and not overpowering. A refreshing brew on a hot day.

This beer pours a golden color and a foamy white head, the smell was a little off, but not to much, the taste was nice a little musty but the vanilla was a nice addition that hits as you swallow the beer. The mouthfeel actually was cream and different than most other beer styles.

Aroma is fairly strong and mainly of wilting lettuce - not too promising. It pours a clear straw yellow with a rather typical fluffy white head. Flavor is malty, a bit wan - not what I expect from Thomas Creek; I have enjoyed the other beers from this brewery that I have tried. Texture is fairly smooth and fizzy, about average.

Not a bad little beer. I am just weighing in on the South Carolina brews. I was fairly impressed. Nice light fruity beer that had hints of vanila and was a littel sweet. I am afraid that is about all I can say. I was hot and very thirsty.

A nice light golden-yellow coloring with a thin head that leaves some lacing. Creamy, sweet, fruity, slight vanilla nose that hints of bananas. Very good carbonation. Sweet initial taste that then turns to the fruits, vanilla and finishes with slight hops - a very nice cream ale.

Tasted this at the Border Beer Bust and was a bit surprised. It was one the beers in the experimental category and it was a bit like drinking a cream soda without most of the sweetness. I almost scored it in second place for the category, but the lightness of the beer let it fall behind. Excellent flavor, the vanilla is balanced with the light straw malt and the low hopping makes it extremely drinkable. I could see turning on non-beer drinkers pretty easily with this beer.
