After years of studying the secret art of hops, this black IPA leaps out of the shadows and attacks the senses like a flying kick to the face. Darker than a fifth degree black belt, Black Eye combines a subtle roast character with a wallop of tropical, fruity hops. Never underestimate the element of surprise. 6% ABV, 42 IBU. This mean IPA was brewed in the hoppy dojo of Stray Dog Brewing Company in collaboration with Ottawa's own Alain Moussi, star of the Kickboxer Trilogy.

Enjoyed at The Koven as my picture shows. Dark brown colour with a little copper highlights, a beige head, good retention and patchy lace. Grassy hops aromas over mild roasted malts. The hops are better blended in the taste with the burnt malts. A nicely bitter Black IPA, more than the roasted malts side of most.
