Mellow but pleasant blend of light fruits, a little citrus, grain and cardboard malt. A little lighter than I like for the style. Bitter enough, but lacking the floral aromatics.

Aroma is quite strong and, surprisingly, more fruity than hoppy, having apple, pear and a hint of banana. It pours an average clear dark amber with a fairly thick, fluffy, off-white head. Flavor is hoppy, somewhat bitter, rather fruity and just a bit syrupy, quite different from most IPAs I have sampled - this is almost like a blend of an IPA and a cider. It has a yeasty, earthy undertone, and overall is rather satisfying. Texture is fairly smooth, just a little tingly, and a teeny bit slimy.

Came in a gift-pack at the LCBO for Christmas 2008, with their Ruby Red brew and a tall glass. Best before date on back label reads 02JUL09. Pours a mild hazy golden-orange colour with a foamy off-white head that fits perfectly in their pint glass. Good retention, great lacing all over and low carbonation. Nice smell of hop, but not too powerful (crazy). Also, some grain and a bit of sweetness. The taste is hoppy, but again, not too powerful, not over-the-top bitter. So, recommended for those who like it hoppier then mass-produced IPA, but not like American hoppy hop-hop beers.

500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 5.5%. Amber to brown colour, moderate white head. Moderate aroma of toffee and hops. The flavour is distinctly hoppy from start to finish, with a substantial bitterness. Also some notes of toffee. Very bitter and sharp aftertaste. A solid British IPA this one.

Bottle: Poured a light amber color ale with an average foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of floral hops with some dry caramel malt. Taste is also a mix between some dry floral English hops and some light dry caramel malt. Average body with some good carbonation. English hops are dominant though not as extreme as an US style IPA.

Solid copper orange color, fading off-white head. Smells of hops. Some subdued citrus hops on the tongue, about what I expected from the tamer side of the pond. Overall, completely uninteresting, but extremely drinkable. One of the few IPAs I could drink all night if need be.

500 ml "medicine" bottle. Decants a lightly hazed honey-gold ale to the glass. Has a modest tight sticky cap that lasts and laces well. Soft carbonation. Aroma gives a bit of musty grain and honey tone, leafy hopping. Caramely malts start the front side then a decent burst of resinous long-boil kent goldings that go very bitter in the finish. Very little citrus, some fruits (apricots), some pine tones no roast but the under pronounced caramel-doughy malt spine is obliterated by the hops by mid palate. This is a bitter (unbalanced) IPA with no real advantage as the hops seem over boiled and too piercingly biter...not pleasantly citrus bitter or twiggy-leafy bitter but medicinal bitter...actually, it's a deintensified version of the IPA style at only 4.9% abv and subdued malt profile but the intensity comes from an annoying overcooked hop bitterness. There are better tasting and balanced intense IPAs around for my dollar.

I have found st. peters to have good, solid beers but this was a bit of a let down. Maybe i got a bad bottle however the aroma was skunky, no floral, pine or citrus attributes. Flavor was yeasty and waxy, with a sour finish. Overall i wasnt pleased, but i would be willing to try it again in the future, based on thier other offerings.

Bottled (5.5%). Amber/copper colour, mediumsized beige head. Aroma is hops, some spices and yeast. Flavour is bigtime hops with some grassyness and maltyness balancing it up a bit. Rather harsh hoppyness still kicking through the brew.

First impression: what the hell went wrong ... pours a clooody haze dirty brown... smells of dirty water, soggy used hops, and dusty old bones fill of green dust ... low medium..lacing is actually very good ... a kind of dirty ugly beer ... has this strange bitterness.. to queer for me..
