Comes out of the tap clear Amber with a thin ivory head. Crisp, malty aroma is a little fruity. Flavor is a little better, crisp and malty with more apple tone. Mouthfeel is not too fizzy, but fairly firm. OK - have it with a meal.

Clear golden yellow, short lasting white foam head. Typical taste for a German beer. OK, not outstanding. Given the reputation of the brewer, bit sissapointing. (Velp 201503)

Poured from a green 12oz imported bottle, it was a lighter gold color and an aroma of grain and malt. Head was a a big foam which went quick. had a bit of sweetness with abit of hops in taste.

On tap @ Linderhof German Restaurant in Knoxville. Light golden yellow pour, tall white head, some lacing, good carbonation. Sweet malt and lemongrass aromas, light Noble hops, a touch of spice and pepper. Taste is very refreshing although fairly light, nice balance of lightly sweet malts and Noble spicy hops. Very little bitter linger. Straight up for the style. Satisfying change of pace from all of the stouts and IPAs that have crossed my lips as of late.

Pours a clear light orange with a small foamy off-white head that settles to a film on top of the beer leaving a little lacing. The aroma is of grain, grape juice, and some slightly skunky aromas that disappear after the pour. The taste is of sweet malt/grain and some grape juice and fruity flavors. There is a slight hop bitterness that quickly fades after each sip. There is a nice level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good and easy to drink beer that is pretty refreshing.

Can from the LCBO (Spaten München Original Munich beer). Pours a pale golden colour with a frothy white head that stays a long time, foaming over the brew (3mm) and creating thick streams of lacing. Mild aromas and seems more like corn than grain malt. Light-bodied with medium carbonation. Malty taste with a bit of hop, just balancing the flavours, very slight adding some grass (but no bitterness). Not much sweetness, just a little grainy, but overall pretty boring (not impressed by feeling corn instead of grain malt).

Decent beer, but nothing esepecially grand. Goes well with spicy food and brats. Golden yellow pour with a faint head - decent lacing. Grassy, malty aroma. Bitter finish.

The beer poured a translucent light gold with a short-lived generous white head. The aroma was was biscuit malt, some yeast, and a floral hoppish sense. The mouthfeel was medium bodied, with medium carbonation. The flavour was nicely balanced between the malt and hops. No excess sweetness whatsoever. -

Tap: pours a pale clear gold (Lightest of the Munich Hells) with a decent 2 finger puffy white cap. Peppery carbonation. Aroma is somewhat demure - sweet malts with noble earthy tones A fairly straight forward German lager but superbly balanced between light bready malt sweetness and noble hop depth. Medium bodied with a Crisp clean lightly dry finish with a distinct bready after taste. Probably the best of the Munich Hell lagers. No way to confuse this with the lighter, sharper hoppier Pils.

Crystal clear!!! Very pale yellow with a super bright white head. The head was kind of small and didn't have a tremendous amount of lacing or retention. Several bubbles working from the bottom to the top. Reminds me of an American macro in appearance. A very clean breadiness and cracker like aroma at first that I found enjoyable. Some fresh "grainy' or "grassy' hops pull through also. Not overly complicated. The grainy hop bitterness comes forth more in the taste. A touch metallic. A fresh, dry, white bread type of flavor. Clean and well balanced. Medium/thin mouthfeel. Smooth and crisp. A bit more dry in the finish than I was expecting. Seems refreshing. A bit left on the palate. This is an ok beer. I am coming to the conclusion that German Pilsners and Lagers don't do much for me. They are not bad, but just nothing I flip out over. They are a good change for me on occasion, but I don't want to make an evening out of this. Just not my preferred style.
