2x Stout "2" varieties of hops & 3 types of malts. A Milk stout, also called ‘cream’ or ‘sweet’ stout, is a stout containing lactose, a sugar derived from milk. Because lactose is unfermentable by beer yeast, it adds sweetness and body to the finished beer. Milk stouts have been claimed to be nutritious, and were marketed as such in the early 1900s with claims that would make the FDA wince. One ad read, “Ideal for nursing mothers, for the healthy, for the invalid, and for the worker.” Surely! Of course, we couldn’t stop at a traditional milk stout. Ours is a double, an addition to our 2X line, and at 7.5% abv is every bit as delicious as it sounds. To your health! 7.5% abv • Double Milk Stout

Creamy and smooth stout with mild blend of sweet coffee and cacao. High amout of lactic acid produces thick dense, dark head. Maybe the best cream (milk) stout produced in the US. Take Pepsi challenge with Guinness sometime.

Long time wish list beer, and a bit of a letdown. Dated 11/13. Aroma is nice enough, big roasted notes, chocolate and lactose. Not a standout, though. Looks good. Feel and flavor are a little off...a bit of unwanted lactic tartness in there with a touch too much sweet and not enough stout. Not a bad beer, but with the other stouts these guys put out, i expected much better.

I always like to start my reviews with appearance. The less light my iPhone can shine through it the higher the rating. This one only has a red bead of light so it gets a 9. The aroma is very light but nice.mouthfeel is a little light and just a tiny bit hoppy but okay.flavor is alright but nothing special.

Had a bottle at Pub Italia, Ottawa. Pours very little head, just a very thin coating. Has a dark brown appearance with ruby highlights. Aromas of dark roasted malts, mild chocolate, cocoa, and resin hops. Flavours are slightly bitter at the start with strong alcohol, dark chocolate, raisins and hints of coffee. Alcohol is fairly pronounced at first but becomes more mellow as it progresses, with the flavours balancing things out. Average retention. Full bodied mouthfeel. Very good milk stout!

This wasn't all that I thought it would be. Flavor seems more like a dry/bitter stout vs. sweet/milk. Maybe a darker chocolate that they use, or just off-balanced a bit. Drinkable, but not really what I'm looking for in this style. Glad I only sampled a single vs. buying a 6-pack.

Pours a dark brown body, capped with a beige one and a half finger head. Average retention and splotchy lacing. Pleasant roasted notes, bittersweet cocoa power as well. Flavor opens with roasted dark chocolate malts, and finishes with mild roasted malts and some lingering cocoa. Medium bodied, smooth, moderate carbonation. One of the better milk stouts well-balanced, not overly sweet.

Nitro tap - A black appearance with the standard perfect beige head. The aroma is faint for a stout with chocolate and coffee mainly showing up. The flavor is a bit sweet with some chocolate, milky notes, and a bit of something burnt going on. There is an out of place sour element in the finish. Overall wasn’t that great but didn’t totally suck or anything.

Bottled@chriso pre-gbbf shindig 2012. Black colour, small brown head. Aroma is black chocolate, roasted malts along with some slight lactic and toffeeish notes. Flavour is fruity, wooden, roasted malty along with some slight toffee and mild lactic notes.

Very dark brown almost black. Looks good to start but head fades quickly and leaves no lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, coffee and a hint of spice. Sweet roasted flavour, milk chocolate, toffee, coffee, vanilla and alcohol. Smooth and creamy with a medium to full body. Full flavour and easy to drink.

Comes out of the bottle dark-chocolate brown with a fairly thick and rather persistent frothy, fine-bubbled wheaten head that leaves fairly thick lacing. Aroma has a core of roast, slightly burnt malt with notes of molasses, licorice and coffee. Lip-smacking flavor has notes of roast malt, mocha and molasses, with nutty and earthy hints. Smooth, firm texture has a decent amount of fizz and leaves a nice smoky, slightly sweet finish.
