Inspired by the perennial café favorite, Double Latte combines two of the greatest things in life: good coffee and great beer. Oregon’s Ninkasi Brewing knows their way around a good cup of joe. Featuring cold-press coffee from the legendary Stumptown Coffee Roasters and a dose of milk sugar, this coffee milk stout is a rich and roasty treat. This young-gun brewery has a locomotive charge. A rich conversation at a local bottle shop in 2005 has morphed into a Pacific Northwest staple. Named after the Sumerian goddess of fermentation, Ninkasi’s first batch of beer was Total Domination IPA and it remains a must for those with a lupulin itch.

Growler. Pours a rich, warm coffee brown with a fairly thick tan head. Quality coffee dominates the aroma while roast malt and subtle chocolate and licorice notes peep through. Sublime flavor has rich quality coffee, chocolate, roast malt, caramel, and subtle licorice tones. Very lip-smacking! Firm texture is fairly fizzy and leaves a nice quality mocha finish. Now that’s my kind of double latte!

Deep blackness in color with a big frothy textured light brown-tan head rising above. Excellent hang time on the head. Nice lacing of film, ringlet and cap are left. Roasted notes of chocolate and malt in the nose. Bittering chocolate and coffee in the tasting, just as I like a good stout. medium bodied and smooth creaminess.

12 oz bottle. Pours dark brown with a huge creamy tan head that retains and laces the glass.
The aroma is sweet fudgy chocolate and a lot of roast coffee.
The flavor is sweet lactic chocolate with roast coffee and a slightly harsh bitter roast finish. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.
Overall, a nice coffee beer, I like the lactic chocolate and coffee, the finish is a bit too much harsh bitter roast. -

Got to try this in tap and bottled. Definitely more coffee on the nose and palate on tap, but damn tasty and smooth as hell either way. Simple milk chocolate and coffee, but well done. Bottle - 4.1. Tap - 4.3.

Pretty hoppy for a milk stout....almost resembles an American Porter with this strength, flavor, and IBU. Thick, semi-creamy mouthfeel. Dark black appearance with frothy mocha head. Flavors of coffee and chocolate with some bitter hops. Approaching an IPS here.
