mmm, saison .. . Pours a hazy yellow pear, good head and super sticky lacing .. . light funk, touch of sweet corn, 1 gram of aspirin, hay and pear .. . quaffable and enjoyable while being a bit refreshing- nice stuff .. . On the other hand, you have different fingers.

Pours a slightly hazy yellow with a very thick but quickly dissipating off-white head - not too appealing, but appearance isn't everything. Aroma is strong and fruity, the latter being mainly pear and banana, with a hint of yeast. Refreshing flavor is mainly fruity, again pear and banana mostly, with tones of malt and yeast, a sweet citrus hint, and just a whisper of hops. Texture is fairly smooth yet strongly fizzy, leaving behind a tingly, fruity finish.

Hazy golden with a rich lively white foam that occupies 80% of the glass. Dryish, lively and yeasty aroma of white bread, white pepper, mild funk, lavender, dried oranges, juniper with a fresh outdoor smell. Yeasty, bready and orangey flavour with touches of pepper, orange-peels, white bread and herbs. Medium-bodied with a smooth, but still chewy mouthfeel. Long crisp and mildly spicy finish of dried oranges, mild spices, and white bread. Feels rather authentic but not rustic enough. Really pleasant to drink, though.

This saison pours a medium orange gold color from a 750ml bottle. Large sized white foamy head. The aroma is citrusy, yeasty and a touch wheaty. A medium bodied saison. The malts are fruity and wheaty. The hops are spicy and a touch earthy. Interesting blend of flavors. The fruitiness is peaches and apricots with a hint of citrus, and then there is the spices and yeasts. Its kind of musty and barnyardy as well. The carbonation is a little aggressive, Nice beer. Sweet and fruity at the start and finishes very crisp and dry. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is crisp, almost sharp, and dry. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Bottled. Golden colour, mediumsized white head. Aroma is fruity hops, earthyness and some mild barnyardy notes. Flavour is very much the same. Gets a bit more fuller and tastier once it gets warmer.

Pours with a golden body topped by a thick, white, foamy head with a good amount of lacing left behind. It’s slightly sweet and grassy with a bitter hoppy note and a touch of sourness. Light to medium bodied and dry.

750 ml I picked up for half of the regular price. Hazy in the bottle with a thick layer of yeast in the bottom. Uncorked and poured slowly into my glass. Bright cloudy golden-orange in color with a billowing huge white head and thick lacing. A bountiful aroma of fruity yeast, musty with a nice funk. Light and tingly on the palate. It's tangy with a mild sourness, rather balanced and refreshing. Lots of wonderful flavors, the most I've been able to detect in a Saison. Oranges and peaches over an earthy malt base. Musty yeast and spicy hops. Tart enough to intrigue me, but not too much. Well done, I thoroughly enjoyed this bottle.

Pours a clear amber at the beginning, but the glass gets cloudier with each pour. And you pour a lot with this one because of the booming carbonation. Big fruity yeastiness is the main thing here. Bubblegum, navel oranges, apricots. It’s pretty dry. The malt doesn’t provide much sweetness. Lingering bitterness in the back.

NorCal tasting June '07 - Now this was a tasty saison. Another excellent creation by Southampton. Aroma is really spicy, bubblegum, alcohol and light fleshy fruit. Appearance is golden yellow in color, huge eruptive head. Mouthfeel is tingly, with a slight burn. Flavor is fruity, yeasty, spicey with a noticeable pepper kick. Saisons aren't one of my most favorite style, but if Southampton keeps pumping them out like this, things might change.

Bottle (courtesy of Hopdog): Poured a light orangey color ale with a big foamy head with great retention and lacing. Aroma of floral malt with a nice floral lightly hoppy finish. Taste of semi-sweet malt with nice floral undertone and some spicy yeast as well as some ester. Taste is well balance and very complex with a nice yeasty signature that leave a spicy finish. Body is above average and alcohol is well hidden.
