A Christmas style saison, how nice. A typical golden orange in colour with a thin white head. The aroma is fruity with a hint of floral hops. The flavour is sweet, malty, and bitter in the end.

SH12/25-S6L3F2T4o9: On tap at the Bocktown, nice place! A little darker than pale lager, somewhat orangier. Tea froth head. Smells a tad sweet, heheheh. Makes me want to take a gulp. Initial flavor wishes to be strong but it is not. Spicy and mild at the same time. Carbonation is gentle yet enjoyable, not really creamy. Leaves a malty spicy bitterness building in the back of yer throat on the finish. One of the more tolerable spiced beers but the beeriness is still covered by the spices.

750 ml corked bottle from SL. The pour was golden with ample carbonation, huge pillowy rocky head, not do-able in a single pour. The aroma was sweet candy, some grass. The flavor was light fruited candy, spicey hops, some grassy hops. Finishes pretty crisp and clean (slightly carbonated dry) for a nice experience. A good BdG.

Bottle: Poured a deep orangey color ale with a big nice foamy head with some good retention but minimal lacing. Aroma of spices which may come from the yeast strain that was used with some noticeable malt leaning toward more dry flavour then sweetness. Taste is also dominated by some peppery notes with a nice malt presence with some subtle sweet notes. Body is quite full with some great carbonation. Interesting and very good overall but it just seems that something is missing.

Good to back in NY and have some fine Southampton beer....This poured a hazy dark orange with a light sticky head. Aroma was doughy (pizza dough), and fall foliage...... Dry woody tastes and some subtle winter/fall type spice notes like nutmeg which explains the 'country chrismas ale'? thing. Light and refreshing spice balance and yeasty finish...... A perky beer, with a playful mouthfeel. Balance leans towards the malts, pale caramel. It has some depth, and still light bodied and crisp, which works for an awesome casual beer

This biere de Garde pours a slightly hazy orange gold color from a 750mlbottle. Medium sized head. Aroma is orange blossoms and floral, very sweet. A medium-bodied B de G. Malts are fruity and sweet. Touch of caramel. Hops are earthy and floral. Lively carbonation. Nice earthy spices. Touch of wood. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

A spice filled aroma. A murky brown appearance with a moderate sized head. The flavor is similar to carrot cake with some brown sugar. Overall this is good stuff.

05.07.05 750ml bottle at Heavyweight open house. Hazed amber, big tan head. Butter. Butterscotch. Cloyingly sweet aromas and flavors with lots of oxidation. Pretty lame. Especially sampled next to Biere d’Art, this brew is a weak example of the style. I can only eek out cooked apple, butter, jam, butter. No thanks. I normally wouldn’t pan a beer that seems to have been affected by age, but this is biere de garde. It should get better, right?

Pours a cloudy amber with a very large head. The aroma is dried peaches and toasted biscuits. Slightly spicy. The flavor is heavily malty, but something just isn’t quite there for the style. Maybe it should be a little more tart, maybe not. Still, a pretty tasty beer that would be a great session beer if it wasn’t a little too big to be a session beer.

This one shows up as an orangish brown brew with a dense off white head. Nose reminded me of iced tea. Very malty with a slight funkiness to it. Some spiciness sitting on a creamy palate.
