I’m not sure what the hell this is but I wouldn’t really consider it a beer. It more like a wine cooler. I can definitely taste the hops but it’s not bitter more sour. It’s more fruity than spicy or peppery which is listed on the can.

Damn, should read other reviews before, and not after opening beers. Another big volcano all-over, so "open over sink", even if not moving the bottle at all. Other than that, the rest seems like a real good brew (so sad to lose a bit of it). Gets hazy at last pour, golden-orange, off-white cap and some creamy lace. Brett nose with the funk aromas, mild sweet Belgian Ale yeast (or sugars) and apple notes. Same for taste with the earthiness, tartiness. Decent grass for the style. Everything is very well-balanced and the alcohol is nicely hidden.

This style reminds a mix between a farmhouse saison and sour. Has that clearish/faint hue of yellow appearance. Flavor is pretty sour/tart...a little grassy/earthy, some sweetness, etc. Grabbed in a flight at Hourglass Brewery. At 8% and all the flavor going on, this could add up, so not one I would want to drink a lot of. A great beer, and style that I do not get to sample that often.

Brought to me on this winter snowshoeing trip by the ever gracious BeerCronic! Lightly hazed yellow, almost like the fog on your windshield. Smells slightly strawberry and really tart. Light lemon, medium sized light head, mix of bubble sizes. Tastes lightly of grass, dry almond granola, lightly sour, light honey. Everything is light really, its all this subtle little dance of fine restrained, balanced movements, like yoga. Very lovely.

Pours an opaque hay colored yellow with a small white head that is quick to dissipate. The aroma has a light funk blended with saisony yeast. As it warms up more of the sour seems to come out as well as some spiciness and lemon citrus from the hops. The taste is hops, spiciness, and malts. The mouthfeel is light body with pretty good carbonation.

This is one fine beer, although I would argue that it is mnore of a tripel than a BSA. A clouded golden pour with a huge head, reminiscent of a Duvel. Spicy and citrusy in the nose with ample yeast scents. A well balanced beer which goes well with seafood.

Yellow haze body and so much explosive foam blowing out the top beer litterly shot Gullies nose as he deep throated the bottle. This took forever to pour no matter how gentle you tried you got 10” of head and no beer. Sour funk awesome aroma which is similar but completely different from other beers. Daaaaaa……there is so much aroma but I can’t pick out one single describable thing, its driving me mad. Taste has the same sour funk, with yeast, apple, mild alcohol, and comes across rather sweet. I don’t really notice the oak aging buts it’s kind of there but maybe only because I know its suppose to be. Sweet perfume and spice round out the flavor.

1 pt. 9.4 fl. Oz. bottle, as "Jolly Pumpkin Oro de Calabaza Artisan Golden Ale - Ale Aged in Oak Barrels", courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Batch 463. ABV is 8%. Golden colour, slightly hazy, with a huge white head. Lovely fruity and spicy aroma, which also carries strong notes of "farmhouse" / wild yeast and white wine vinegar. The flavour is equally excellent, spicy and fruity notes, some acidity, with a hoppy and peppery bite in the finish. Extremely drinkable and refreshing for its strength.

Excellent beer. Sour and dry with all sorts of fruit and spice notes. This beer pours a hazy pale yellow with a big white head. Lots of little bubbles in the glass and thick rings of foam mark the head’s downward progression. The aroma is good sour malt with mild, floral hops. There are apricots, strawberries, lemons and mangoes in the malt and yeast aromas. A big fruity black pepper smell pervades. There’s no doubt that this beer has seen the inside of an oak barrel. Like all JP beers, it’s unashamedly woody. The sourness is mild in both aroma and flavor. It’s closer to an Orval-style sour dryness than any sort of funk bomb. While the aroma was good, the beer really hits its peak in the flavor. It’s a round, melded blend of rich malt, spicy yeast and dry oak. The mouthfeel is smooth and light for the abv. There’s little alcohol presence.

Sampled from bottle thanks to Micah. Pours cloudy gold with a creamy head and nice lace. Tart fruit and funk aroma. I love it! Slightly bitter with a dry finish. Pepper spice and citrus add some complexity to the seemingly simple malt bill. Seems like there's some pinepple from the wild yeast and some tannins too. Nice.
