Dark pour with red highlights, moderate head and lacing. Aroma was roasty. Burnt coffee flavor (in a good way) with some strong hoppiness. Very full flavor and mouthfeel, especially for the style. Very good.

The appearance was clear brown with a nice head that yielded good lacing. The aroma was hoppy and hid the rest of what was there. The flavor was definitely hoppy (pine-like) and the other flavors were dwarfed by the hops. I’m not normally a fan of hops in my stouts or porters, and this one was too weak in the “other” flavors category to think much more highly of than average (outside of the appearance). Can’t anyone hide a bad beer with lots of hops?

Dark crimson color with a medium tan head and no lacing. Weak roasty aroma also included notes of hops. Taste was watery hops and a funky roasted malt taste. This was a strange porter with more of a hop profile than the usual malty roastedness. Almost an attempt at Alpha Klaus, but falling way short.
