Feeling Hoppy? The Shipyard IPA is a single-hopped ale that satisfies the discriminating India Pale Ale enthusiest. Wonderfully balanced and deceptively smooth. Fuggles are a traditional variety English hop and their mild spicy aroma makes them highly prized by brewers. These classic hops were first propagated in 1875 and are named afte the farmer who cultivated the strain in East Kent, England. The hop is a vine and the part used to aromatize and flavor beer is the cone-like flower. Its complex aromas predominate in a dry, crisp ale.

oily appearance, orange with some brown lowlights in it, like lindsay lohans hair back in tha day. bitter bitter mouthpuckering bitterness. not much in the way of hoppiness but some citrus and saaz maybe? lots of floral sensation. slight skunk.

Pours sort of dull gold with a weak off white head. The aroma is light with hints of hops and some malt. The above average carbonation brings out a sizable floral to citrus hoppiness. There is also a noticeably chewy amount of sweet and slightly grainy malts. Enjoyable IPA but not really noteworthy.

Medium size white head thats short lived. Clear copper color. Medium body. Spicey hop nose with some bready notes. Light hop flavor backed up with some malt and a decent hop bitterness. Still kinda thin, finish is fairly dry.

Perhaps this bottle was old or perhaps this just didn't impress me. I didn't feel this was a good/great ipa, just average. the fuggles is mellow, not strong at all. Meh.

pours a deep orange color with a moderate light tan head with great retention and intense lacing. The armoa is hops, floral and bitter citrus. The taste is earthy hops sustained by some toasty/bready malts that are not too prominent, and the finish is bitter and earthy. The mouthfeel is medium to light in body with moderate carbonation.

Purchased at the SAQ beside the Casino in Hull, Quebec. Pours a slightly hazy golden-amber colour with a creamy cap that stays a while and leaves great tiny lace all around. Aromas of caramel malts over the hop and something that is less appealing (but can't put my finger on what it is). Not much taste to this one. Hints of cereal and hard to find the hop. Mildly dry and not much else than easy drinking. An easy-going IPA for those who do not like too much hop, but want something slightly better than commercial ones.

It pours a light amber with thick and dimpled light-tan head and copious lace. An aroma of caramel malts, hops, lemon-citrus, slightly yeasty, and some spice. The mouthfeel is too thin. Flavors of caramel malts, hops, lemon-citrus, and spices. Weak IPA...

12 oz bottle. Poured a clear copper / pale amber colored I.P.A. with a two fingers slight beige creamy foamy head that had a superb retention. Active carbonation. Great lacing. The aroma is moderate hops, caramel malts, black fruits, raisins, notes of toffees and a touch of piney hops. The flavour is an intense bitterness, light caramel malts, a touch of honey. The mouthfeel is light and very smooth. This medium bodied I.P.A. has a long hoppy bitter finish. The smell gives promises that are not kept by the palate. It lacks of stuff !

I found this to be a below average IPA. Balance wasn't really working too well for me. Overly bitter, but not a good hoppy way....more like the metallic semi-swillish kind. First sample I thought it was OK, but on the 2nd try I wasn't feelin it. I found some others in the Captain's Collection variety pack to be worth the try, but not this one. I'll stick to my Bell's Two Hearted Ale, Lagunitas, Sierra Nevadas, etc. when looking for affordable IPAs.

Not sure what is going on with...shut-up ... .. Pours a slight murked up dark tan .. . best by April 09 .. . dried fruit and old burlap sack hop aroma .. . muddled stuff, easy to drink but no complexity or real fresh hop flavours .. . bitterness is good, but it lacks the sweetness to mellow it out .. a bit to sharp for me, or anyone really.. shipyard at its best..frightfully..
