Pours mostly clear gold with no head to speak of and very mild carbonation. Aroma is corn and grass, with just a hint of the Hallertau. Taste is salty. Balanced, but bland. Recommended use: tailgate parties.

Per-dinner warmup. This one kinda sucks. Generic semi sweet biscuity malt, thin body, with harsh herbal hops. Even a mediocre brewer like Shiner can do better than this.

This brew poured a clear gold with just a small head. The aroma was herbal hop and biscuit malt. The flavor was balanced but on the weak side. Mouthfeel was thin to medium. Overall not very impressive.

I picked this one up at Wine Corridor in Laurel, MD having never seen it or heard of it before. I do like the Shiner Bock, so I figured it couldn't be too bad. Had I looked at the reviews here, I might have thought otherwise about purchasing this though.
The beer pours out a clear, light yellow color...very American light beer look. There's hardly any head other than a few bubbly swirls at the top of the glass. There's also very light carbonation bubbling up through the glass. There's a somewhat "off aroma" coming from the glass. It's almost that of a city bus on a hot summer day. It's kinda gross. Although I'm not too familiar with the Helles style of beer, I can't imagine that this beer is supposed to taste like this. I do not smell the Hallertau hops that is listed in the description.
I think for this type of beer, I'd expect a little bit more in the mouthfeel area. It's just kinda boring and the carbonation level is a little on the light side. The flavor is kinda blah too. I'm not sure what why either. I've usually been a fan of the Shiner / Spoetzl products. I'm pouring the rest of this down the sink. :( -

My wife and I split a sixer of this last night, have to say after 3 beers i am still not sure exactly what the aroma and flavor is similar to. It pours a lightly carbonated golden yellow body with a thin head that disappered quickly. It wasnt good but not really bad either, a little strange and slightly below average beer.

Sampled from bottle. This helles pours bright gold with little head. Light herbal hoppiness accompanies some grainy malt aromas. Balanced, with a simple flavor profile - a dash of hops and some pils malt. Better than an adjunct macro, but not what I expected from a brewer that has the know-how to do a world class helles for a special anniversary brew.

Pours medium gold with good clarity and small, airy head. Smells of swill with light citrus notes. The flavor is balanced and boring, but not gross. Light bodied, almost watery, with mild carbonation.

Ummm...well this is very disappointing for an anniversary beer. Very bland taste and weird aroma (might be odor). I couldn't pick anything out of the taste. I don't know what else to say. Pours golden with little head. A little bad aftertaste left in mouth too.

Pours a late sunset gold colour .... a truly gross aroma emanates from my glass ... some foam buts disappears in minutes ...Taste is messed up and too muddled for me to carry on.... A HUGE disappointment!
I know i am being a bit harsh on this one, but it really seems to lack pride... that being said, the best thing about this beer is the cap!
