The world's oldest producer of wheat beer, Schneider Brauerei, has also created the world's original dopplebock wheat beer. Aventinus wheat-dopplebock is brewed using over 60% wheat malts. Aventinus is traditionally bottle fermented in the method champagnoise style, unpasteurzed and unfiltered with a pure top fermenting yeast that you will notice settles on the bottom of the bottle. Aventinus has a deep tawny colour with malty notes in the nose and chocolate and spices in the palate.

This beer has a brown body - hue apperance and a fine white scum collar. I have drunk the beer from the bottle and it had a lot of carbonic acid. The initial flavor taste is sweet-bitter.

I drank a version of this beer called Tap 6 so I'm not sure it's the same beer because the label was white. What I can tell you is the Tap 6 is very dark brown and only two shades from being black. It smells and taste of banana bad plum. The taste is wonderful and so is the mouth feel.

Pours a semi transparent brown with a 2 finger head that takes its time. Lots of little bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass. Aroma consists of cloves, yeast, and caramel. taste is fairly mild bodied with strong hints of banana bread, cloves, and dried fruits. Reminds me a lot like a saison or Belgian ale. lots of chunks floating around the head. Finishes off non-existent. Very interesting and good.

The original from Bavaria, nice light brown color and small foam head. Not filtered, not too sweet. Nice citrus taste, yet at same time some good beer taste, malty.

Pours a dark murky brown, with a medium sized off-white head, that disipates rather quickly, but leaves some nice lacing. The aroma is of dark fruits; plums, raisins, figs. A nice healthy dose of a biscuity malt character follows the fruits. The taste is similar to the aroma, with the dark fruit flavors coming though staring at the beginning, with the sweet bready malts coming in to round things out a bit at the end. The mouthfeel is rich and thick, though it still has a nice crisp, clean finish, that keeps you wanting more. A lot more!!!!!!!!!!!!!

500 ml capped bottle. Poured in the original designed Aventinus Vase an unfiltered and strong hazy burgundy-brown coloured Doppelbock with a generous two fingers beige pillowy foamy head that had a very long retention and tons of micro bubbles. Soft carbonation. Some lacing. The aroma is yeast, intense wheaty malts, riped fruits, dark raisins, plums figs. The flavour is rich : yeasty, toasted and wheaty malts, caramel, notes of dark chocolate, fruity, pears, bananas, plums and light spicy with notes of licorice, cloves, chilli and pepper. The mouthfeel is crispy, fulled, light syrupy and smooth. This full bodied Doppelbock has a long riped fruits and malty finish. " The " ideal companion for the fireside ? I agree !

Pours medium brown with a light haze and a thick fluffy head that lingers. Lacing is excellent. Yeasty, bread nose with a sweet malt, wheat flavor with ripe fruits - dates, raisen and plum. A rich, enjoyable drink.

A brown colored beer. A thick, foamy textured, tan head rises robustly above. It has some hang time. Settles into a thin ringlet. The nose and tasting are malty, dark fruit. A medium bodied, well carbonated beer. Really tasty.

Wheat, water, and malts...oh my, oh my. Some doppelbocks seem to be on the maltier side, but this is very wheaty. I think I prefer the malty over wheaty. Not as good as I thought, but had wanted to try this brewer. I have the Hopenweizen to try next, so maybe I will like that better. It's still a solid beer and worth the try. Keeping the German sampling theme going........

It pours a dark burnt-orange with a thin light-tan head and some specks of lacing. An aroma of caramel malts, light hops, bread and bread-crust, oranges, tea, toffee, and light spices. The mouthfeel is smooth and fairly rich. Flavors of caramel malts, hops, citrus, bread, tea, toffee, brown sugar, and spices. Very good!
