Also known as Best of Beer Camp #37 During a recent visit to Germany, our brewers had the good fortune to meet with the hefeweizen masters at the Brauerei Fritz Gutmann. Last fall the Gutmann brewers returned the visit, and while they were here, brewed up an exceptional Weizenbock beer. This Weizenbock is a strong hefeweizen with pronounced banana and clove aromas with layers of complex malt flavor.

Very nice poured a cloudy orange with white head The aroma was spicy with hints of sugar Good mouth feel. Not a great deal of carbonation but enough to help the aroma and flavor come through. This was a nice find at the neighbors.

WOW! Phenomenal beer from SN, Unfortunately this is the only beer camp beer I've had thus far, but it is a beauty! Pours a thick syrupy light orange colour. Not much froth. Not much lace left behind either. Taste is out of this world. Melon, cashew, bubblegum and candi sugar. Aroma is bananna, pineapple, mango and passion fruit. Stellar, stellar beer. Maybe the best weizenbock I've ever tasted.

12oz bottle. Pours a hazy golden amber with a big rocky off white head that retains well and leaves a little lacing.
The aroma is subdued - some grainy wheaty malts and musty earthy yeast with some banana and clove and some floral hops.
The flavor is grainy wheaty malts with a little sugary fruity sweetness, and a musty earthy finish with some banana. As it warms, the sweetness starts to overwhelm. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with full carbonation.
Overall, it's OK. It's a bit subdued and a little too sugary sweet. I don't really care for the banana notes either. -

Had as Best of Beer Camp #37. Strong, wheaty aroma has a faint lemony undertone, a whisper of sweetness, and a lot of appeal. It pours a slightly hazy golden amber, but I was not able to get much in the way of a head. Delightful wheaty flavor has a yeasty underpinning and a hint of citrus that is more sweet than sour - quite refreshing. Texture is smooth and fizzy with a good amount of body. A good summer brew.

Thanks, Jayson - an exemplary weizenbok/wheat beer with aroma of banana bread (yes, banana bread - not banana, bread), cloves and nutmeg. Pours deep orange/tan with a single-finger head that lasts forever - and laces that way as well. Well balanced flavors that carry over from the aroma. Nice, easy finish. A true pleasure.

Another Beer Camp beer from jlozier - Weizenbock: Camp #37. Hazy golden orange pour with a sustained bubbly white head but little lacing. Big ripe bananas, some clove and spices, a touch of orange, lots of yeasts in the aromas. Taste is also big on banana and clove, spices, some orange and lemon, more yeasts, like a huge hefeweizen, spicy ending. NIIiiiiiicccceeee wheat beer. Very very refreshing. Kudos to JLoz - this one really rocks! Excellent beer.

Bubblegum, banana and clove....smells like a classic hefe. cloudy yellow-orange body, 1" white head and streaky lacing. Firm, malty, sweet and crisp. Gum, banana, spice are reflective in the flavor and sit atop a sweet bread aspect. Hint of metallic twang. Very nice and it really leans toward a strong hefeweizen, the bock aspect seems to get neglected.

A bright orange colored beer with a huge frothy textured, white head rising above. Great hang time, settling eventually into a thick ringlet and thick, foamy splotches of film. There is a lot of sedimentation in the finish. The nose is banana, wheat and spice as there is in the tasting. Medium bodied and crisp on the tongue round out a good beer.

Weisenbock Sampled on 5/21/2011. This weizenbock pour a hazy orange gold color from a 12oz bottle. Medium sized beige foamy head, with nice lacing and good retention. The aroma is fruity, bready and sweet. A medium bodied weizenbock. The malts are fruity, bready and sweet. The hops are earthy. Nice balance. Good carbonation. Smooth taste. Just a hint of banana. Very nice beer. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.
