Mix pack offering is a pretty standard thin bodied Brown ale. Nothing stands out, good or bad. A touch of earthy hops And nuts over light roast and cocoa.

Pours a clear brown with a compact khaki head that disappears quickly. The aroma is that of coffee, cocoa, resinous hops, and an odd, off-putting metallic tang. The taste is malty and mildly bitter with notes of coffee, bitter chocolate, cream, pine, and citrus. The finish is sharp and hoppy with pine and citrus notes, as well as a metallic flavor.

A brown appearance with a white head. The aroma has the usual Saranac stank mixed in with some nutmeg and toffee. The flavor has some odd splash of cheap vodka, wtf! Then some toffee and caramel. What is that awful vodka flavor? OMFG!

Clear deep brwon pour with a medium head and some nice lacing. Weak nutty aroma with slight malts and dirt. Mouthfeel is thin and slightly carbonated. Taste is very average with some nuttiness, slight toasted stale malts, hint of hops.

Medium. Medium everything. Pours medium brown with a moderate light tan head with decent lacing. Medium bodies with a clean finish. No depth or appreciable character, yet not offensive . Decent overall.

A very good brew...very flavorful. I liked the roasted flavors, light coffee and chocolate flavors...and hoppy as well. Very drinkable and very affordable.

Fairly strong and very hoppy nose,pine, citrus and maybe a bit of raisin. this amount of hops nose in an American Brown is optional but I think its overdone here. Very deep brown with hints of copper body that is clear, nice head off white, not long lasting, but leaves a nice skim coat. Mouthfeel is thin, too thin I think for the style. I am not getting enough malt in the flavor. I pick up cirtus hops initially, mid taste is some almost non-existent crystal malts, there is a somewhat nasty astingency high up in the rear sides of the mouth, finishes dry and just a hint of sweet. The label promises a traditional Brown with lots of malt flavor nicely balanced with hops but that just isn't happening for me. This is quite drinkable but I think it misses the style here and there. Ok, now I have read the other reviews, many mention maltiness but I still don't taste it, oh well. LATER AS it warms the malt is coming through a bit more which is nice but the mouth is getting ever more thin, just not a well made beer.

Deep brown and perfectly clear; foamy tan head with good retention and lacing. Nutty malt aroma, fruit-sweet smooth mouthfeel. Deep malt flavors, nutty but also quite bitter. Astringent finish. A little harsh; I would have prefered mellow.

This came from a six pack of Adirondack mix. Unfortunatedly the Schwazbier was not in the six pack. it would have been my first choice, so I settled on the brown ale. An impressive deep reddish brown beer. A strong, foamy tannish head sits on top upon pour. Settles soon into a lumpy foam and eventually into a light lacing. There is a lot of bittering hops in the aroma and as expected with the taste. I detected a strong aroma of alcohol. Any sweetness is far too subtle. But this is a good beer. Good think the Black Forest had been replaced with two Brown Ales.

The brown ale forms a thick light tan head that sits on top of a clear dark amber brew. The head makes nice lacing as it sides down the sides of the glass. The aroma is full of sweet malts. On the tongue, caramel and maple sweet malts give way to bitter dark chocolate and coffee notes. The palate is medium bodied and smooth with average carbonation. Saranacs Brown Ale is well balanced and very drinkable.
