Golden colour, small white head. Aroma is hops, malts and either rice or maize (maybe both?). Flavour os rice, hops and slight maltyness. Not exciting at all, and quite typical Asian "pale" beer.

Pale gold, white head that sinks. Grassy aromas, tinge of sulfur. Nutty grains and strong hop bitterness. Flavour reminds me of Resch's Pilsener of a decade or two ago, implying the use of Pride of Ringwood. Some nutty grain flavour. Bitterness a tad unbalanced. Good, crisp, & refreshing, but bitter.

Maybe a touch above the Kirin, Sapporo, and Asahi macros I've been drinking here in Japan, but not by much. Lots of rice and phony malts underneat a beer that finished with a decent hop profile. However, this beer was originally served at something like 40F, so it clearly was in stealth mode, trying to avoid flavor detection. As it warmed, it just turned more and more adjunct-laden tasting. Appearance was originally golden with a nice white head, very decent lacing for a macro pale lager. An ok beer, definitely decent for a pale lager style, but just not worth my liver.

This beer isn’t anywhere near as interesting as it’s Black Beer brother. Not terrible, but not very different from most middle-of-the-road Japanese lagers that I’ve had recently while working in Sasebo, Japan. Along those same lines, I would take Sapporo Draft Beer over this, but would still prefer this beer over some of the more swill-like offerings from Asahi (for example). As such, with a beer of strictly average qualities, I have no choice to mark this pretty-much down-the-middle average. A beer that doesn’t live up to it’s “premium” advertising, but one that doesn’t repulse me, either.

Medium straw color, medium head. A medium bodied draft style lager. Nicely malty with a nice hop bite. Clean and crisp taste. Light taste but with some flavor. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and round. Finish is crisp and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter. Nice beer. I don’t mean to go on a rant here, but STOUT DRAFT is confusing!!

This beer just did not do it for me. The aroma was all malts and nothing else and was sweet. The appearance was a cloudy, light amber color and had a lacy, white head that remained the whole time. The mouthfeel was medium-bodied. The flavor was of malt with no balance with hops whatsoever and was a bit ruff and bitter during the finish. Overall, not what I expected one bit. I saw the word stout and assumed it would be, but, it was not. It was a bit of a disappointing beer and I have no clue why they call it a stout because it most certainly is not.

Pale Golden Color with medium thick head. Fairly strong malt aroma with very slight hoppy bitter undertones. Slightly sweet malt flavor. This is a good beer but why they call it a stout draft is beyond me.

Probably the best Japanese brew I've had. Great taste. A little more expensive than the Asahi Super Dry or Kirin Ichiban that are normal fare, but as others have stated, well worth it.

You pay a bit of a premium for this one, but it is well worth it. After so many days of typical lagers, this one really hits the spot.

This is every bit as good as any of the best Pilseners Ive ever had. Just bitter and malty enough and carbonated to perfection. I think this is superior to any other Japanese beer I've ever had.
