Rogue Hazelnut Brown Nectar

355 ml can, from Vinoble Frederikshavn. ABV is 5.6%. Deep nut brown colour, small off-white to beige head. Aroma of hazelnut extract, brown malts and coffee. The flavour has the same elements, and is not too sweet. Minimal hops, "dead" finish. Won't buy again.

The beer pours a clear amber color with a weak snow white head. Aroma is nutty malt, some roasted malt, fresh bread, light caramel, and weak citrusy hops. Mouthfeel is average. Flavor is hop forward, the sweet and nutty malt flavors not really shining through the bitter hops

Enjoyed this beer at the end of a wonderful night at National Harbor filled with Italian restaurant outdoor seating overlooking the Potomac, Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center dancing fountains and a visit to Irish Pub Harrington's for a night cap. This beer was the finale of a special night and truly earned this merit! So many flavors in every sip (hazelnut, chocolate with my preferred level of hops)! The color was beautiful and the reflection off the glass from the night lighting in the pub gave it a radiance that stood at attention. Glorious!

Had a bottle at Pub Italia, and arrived with average size head that doesn't stick around long but leaves a bit of lace. Has a dark amber appearance with reddish hues. Aromas are pretty much hazelnut for me and not much else, maybe light malts as well. Flavours of hazelnut are at the forefront for sure, along with light chocolate notes and hints of vanilla. Some mild roasted malts also. Nectar coming from citrus hops. Creaminess at first, slightly watery at the end. Pretty smooth mouthfeel with a little bit of the hazelnut in the finish. Very good but I think one pint is sufficient, otherwise the taste becomes too much.

Pours a cloudy medium brown color with orange/red highlights with a small creamy tan head with an excellent showing of lace and a good amount of retention. The aromas are fantastic, rich and sweet malts are dominant and remind me of brew day for my homebrews. Aromas of caramel and molasses combine with nutty and earthy notes. The taste features dark malts and chocolate, with some earthy, maple character while other flavors are nuts, oak/wood, and roasted malts. A big and malty beer, but the sweetness doesn't overpower at all. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, with a good amount of carbonation. The finish is of nuttiness and sweetness, but is also balanced by the earthy hops.

I guess brown ales arent favored if this is the number one one, or perhaps it was earlier and has gone downhill or perhaps it looses its hazelnut flavor after a few months, because this one has only a scant flavor of hazelnuts and I can detect a hazelnut like crazy (I have literally fought squirrels over them). It does have a good chocolate flavor and maybe that is what is hiding it. It also has a good head but no lacing. A little sour, and that can be expected of a brown. Oh last little bit has hazelnut, maybe it really needs to be served at at least 50 degrees. Let's ask this squirrel...

This gets high ratings, but wow I have to disagree. I found the nut flavour to be overly sweet and it reminded me of dried corn syrup. The beer itself was pretty good. The brown ale was fairly well balanced, some chocolate in there, really light bodied, which I suppose it had to be, but it doesnt sit great with me. Quite expensive for what I feel is a middle of the road beer, with a nut flavour I don't dig. O well.

650 capped bottle. Poured a clear dark brown-red coloured Brown with a generous two fingers tan pillowy foamy head that had a very long retention and tons of micro bubbles. Soft carbonation. Good lacing. The aroma is moderate toasted malts, moderate coffee beans, moderate dark chocolate and juicy biscuits. The flavour is sweety and toasted malts, caramel, spicy, licorice, juicy pie, toffee, juicy biscuits, dried fruits, nuts. The mouthfeel is creamy and very smooth. This medium bodied Brown has a slight bitter and fruity ( dried ) finish. A soft Brown, very nice and I enjoyed it.

Pours a clear medium brown with a tan head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is hazelnut, clearly. Mouth is balanced. Flavor is sweet with a twinge of...something....nectar? :)

Very, very nice amber/brown color with an off white head that was creamy and full. More than adequate retention with some very nice lacing to follow. The beer is somewhat hazy with some orange highlights around the bottom and sides of the glass. Very nice roasted hazelnut smell. Deep and toasty. A tremendous fragrance of a woody almond and walnut. Traces of caramel add a touch of sweetness to the aroma. This brew smells incredible. I almost detect a brown sugar and hints of butter. This is beautifully put together. Full flavors of the roasted, toasted hazelnut and walnut. Some suggestions of bitterness, but not intimidating. Some slight warmth, but no real traces of alcohol. Some touches of butter and caramel. Properly balanced. I even got some very faint chocolate. Medium mouthfeel. Smooth, slick and crisp. Left proper amounts on the palate. Not an over abundance on the palate, but nicely comfortable and mostly dry. This is a pleasing and proper Brown Ale. Wonderful aroma and flavor. Very easy to drink. It could be drunk year round. The fragrance of this beer is the star of the show. I kept sniffing it because it smelled so, so good. In my opinion, how a Brown Ale should smell and others compared to. More than adequate in other categories also. Most definitely one that I will pick up again.
