Milk stout is a style that traditionally served as the alternative to the more common Irish Dry Stouts such as Guinness. Also known as sweet stout, the more common name comes from the fact that the sweetness is the result of an addition of lactose sugar to the boil. Unlike most other sugars, lactose is non-fermentable, leaving a higher residual sweetness in the final product. Our award-winning stout is creamy and easy drinking, with notes of cocoas and cold-brewed coffee.Pours dark brown and creamy. Third stout of the night, pouring a real dark, almost black with no visible highlights. Thin beige head, kind of frothy with not much stay, but a little foamy ring. Aromas of roasted malts mostly. Hints of dark fruits, molasses. Not getting much sweetness from this one. Roasted barley for taste with again these hints. I kind of get some sour infection from this one, but not a deader. Easier drinker than thought, as not much sweetness for a milk stout. Decent hops balancing the dryness. An alright normal stout.

The beer pours a very dark brownish-black with a 1” foamy cap which recedes quickly, quite sad for a stout. The aroma is roasted malt, coffee, vanilla, and that soy sauce note. No noticeable chocolate aromas for this one. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is balanced between the coffee and nutty malty notes. There is a hint of some sweetness, but it is not very strong.
