A medium gold beer, slightly hazed, with an off-white creamy film on top. The nose feels notes of bread, toffee, and flowers. Mouthfeel is average. Flavor is simple, but quite delicious. Lots of sweet malty notes before giving way to a light bitter finish.

Drank at Sugarbowl on my last trip to Edmonton. Not my favorite style of beer, but after having a Canadian on the golf course earlier in the day, it seemed alright. Malts and a skiff of germannic hops. Slight bit of corn and some really over steeped bitter green tea, but weakly. A bit of barnyard. There is a slight bit of yeast character which is the closest thing to a redeeming feature. Many start with lagers and the like and learn to like other beers, I couldnt stand stuff like this, and after enjoying stouts and the like, I learned to try it. Still dont like it.

I enjoyed the first half of this, but then the 2nd half was mostly dense and unfiltered....so my recommendation, pour it all at once!! First half was clearer and had a nice watery/wheat flavor with good hop ending. 2nd half of unfiltered wheat-mud was way too sweet and off balance. I am sure it would be better poured the way it should be, but still wasn't really feelin' this brew.

500 ml bottle, as Original Pinkus Obergärig (Münstersch Alt is mentioned on the rear label), from Vinmonopolet. ABV is 5.1%. Like all Pinkus beers, it is organic. Crystal clear and extremely pale yellow colour, more like a Kölsch than any Altbier I know. Moderate but lasting white head. Weak aroma, some grassy and dusty hops. The flavour is clean and refreshing enough, a typical Kölsch, I’d say (disregarding that the beer is not brewed in Köln). There are no offensive side flavours, but the moderately hopped flavour does not blow my socks off either. Clearly drinkable, but so are many other (and better) beers. Won’t buy again.

This is only my second sampling of this style. This one, a dull straw colored beer. A smally fizzed, white heat rises briefly above. Not impressive in hang time. Left is a thin ringlet and light dusting atop the body. It is light to light-medium, well carbonated. A crispness on the tongue. The nose and tasting have a honey presence. Despite that it is not unpleasantly sweet.

Pours yellow hazy, short lived white head. Peaky carbonation, flavor is a bit yeasty with a touch of fruit. Background of slightly jagged bitterness, but pleasant even when drinking by its self. Should go well with a light meal.

Botled (from bierzwerg.de). Golden colour, mediumsized slightly off-white head. Aroma is malts, some cooked vegetables, mild notes of herbs and also some slight earthy notes. Flavour is quite much the same, but the finish is more vegetably and herbal. This beer could probably do way better with some spices asian food than it did by itself.

Aroma reminiscent of a Brown ale, slightly funky (they always remind me of tennis balls) some vanilla and some peppery and citrusy hop notes with just a touch of biscuit. Great rocky head is large and pure white with moderate retention and fantastic lace, sits atop a slightly fogged (organic) medium golden body with a hint of copper. This beer has a lovely mouthfeel, thick and slippery and a bit chewy with nice tingle from well done carbonation. OK, now that I have reveiwed it I have read the other reviews of people who I respect like ECB and Hannah and Eaglefan and others. I do agree that the color may not be right for style but I am shocked by the low reviews it has received, I am going to have to get another soon and drink it cold to see if that is the difference or perhaps there is a lack of consistency. I am drinking this on the warm side which I suspect is appropriate. The taste if very round and mellow, excellent balance! Starts tart, almost fermented pear with significant hop notes of pepper and citrus, there is a very mild carmel note, it is not grassy, yeast is big in mid-taste but is not sour: somehow it has a very deep mellowness to it, there is bread and malt and vanilla towards the end which is mellowing the yeast flavor I think, and it ends dry and slightly tart with significant warming effect of alcohol. This beer is very complex but so well balanced that the complexity is hard to notice, yes I am in Love! (and it it priced very well IMHO).

This beer pours a bright, semi hazey golden colour with a full creamy top. Noticeably yeasty esters immeditaely float out of this beer. Bananna, pineapple and some green apple onthe nose. Taste is full and creamy, pleasent with lots of carbonation. Tropical fruits and wheat on the palate.

altbier my foot!?! ... very pale gold... some foam but low .. some nice flavours, honey lychee- kinda of intriguing ... again, if this is an altbier, i'd be very surprised- i am not an altbier expert but it seems like a light version .. a decent enjoyable beer but nothing like i expected..
