Cynics can't believe it, Epicures hail it a sensation, and Pythagoreans just can't add up what makes this luscious blend of rich malty ale and cherry lambic so delightful. It might be the flavor of dark chocolate and cherry cordials; it could be the way it acquires wisdom and grace in the cellar. Maybe it's a conundrum. What's your theory? The essence of wonder is a unique and masterful blend of strong malty ale and authentic Belgian Kriek. Our philosophers deduce that this powerful marriage of cherries, roasted malts, and dark chocolate will only achieve more wisdom and coherence as it broods in the dark recesses of your cellar.

2016 edition. Pours an amber colour with a ruby hue. Big fluffy beige head, long lasting with some thick foam lacing. Nutty aromas with some dark fruits (figs, dates) and some caramel malts. The taste has the dark fruits with some nice hops that gives out hints of mint, grass. A little wood in the mouthfeel. Quite a nice Quad that has lots happening.

Pours and cloudy brownish red color with a nice white heat that disappears quickly. Smells like wheat, malt and cherry. The taste and mouthfeel are complex like a Dunkel. Very interesting and will buy again. Does have just a bit of tang aftertaste but not bitter.

Another top shelf elixer from USA Ommegang. Excellent pour with rich ,tight, icecream like tan brown head. A little alcohol note at first followed by chocolate , etherial cherry, fruits. A little funk not a lot, reminds me of Orval but not Orval. Good- good stuff!

Burgundy coloured pour. One finger tan head quickly shrinks to a ring and leaves little lacing. Don’t get much aroma. Sweet start, dark fruits, banana and sour finish. Very carbonated with a medium body. Think this beer is somewhat overrated.

2009 vintage bottle. Pours a very nice burgundy with a one finger head that seems to loft around for a long time. Tons of carbonation. Aroma is very sweet like a cola with hints of malts and yeast. Taste has a big hit of alcohol with hints of sour fruit. Aftertaste is very metallic. Overall an over rated beer, I just don't see all the hubbub about it. Good looking beer though.

Clear dark ruby color with light brown foam head. Aroma dominated by alcohol and more a wine than a beer aroma. Taste bit too sweet, strong alochol and barley, do not actually like the taste. Aftertaste is long lingering, but not outstanding. (Houston 201301)

Poured a nice red, brown color.Good carbonation and great aroma and flavors .Easy to see why this is rated so high, but is really pricey. I picked up a lot of cherry and some plum notes in it.Warming alcohol was underneath.Great stuff!

This is a beer with a big flavor. The pour is dark brownish-red, with a tan head. Aroma is caramel malt, cherry, and spices. The flavour is sweet malt with nuuty, fruit and what seems like a toffee flavor.

I don't have much to add to the fantastic reviews others have posted. The only American "Belgian styled" beer that I have come across that does justice to the best actual belgian beers. Dense as complex, like ham soup with noodles, just different flavours than said soup. Aroma of figs and dried peach and raisin. Ripe cherries and plums. Mildly acidic and spicy from a nice yeast but mostly malts. Great!

Second only to Rochefort 10, this is the beer I buy the most. A nice, strong drink with the taste of chocolate-covered cherries. I can drink this every single day and never get sick of it. Great slightly chilled, as well as room-temperature. Very nice appearance poured into a chalice/goblet. Highly, highly recommended!
