Tried at a bar. This beer literally blew my mind with how great it was. It poured a reddish-brown with a tan coloured cap that lasted. Dark fruits, caramel, and licorice were the primary aromatic notes with yeast and roasted malt present. The flavour was well balanced with notes of fig, raisins and toffee up front, and yeast and spices in the finish.

Almost soppelbock in it's breadiness but for the extra candy sugar and belgian spicy zing. full bodied, but a bit overcarbonated, which took away a little from the overall experience - hard to seperate the feel and flavor sometimes. Definitely an enjoyable brew, but a little overrated imho.

The only thing available to me is this 25.4 ounce green bottle. It smells like green peas after being poured into a chalice - not bad in my opinion. Little to no head even when poured heartily into the bottom of the glass. Taste of green peas, with a lot of sweetness. Comparable to Spaten's Optimator, but this is much sweeter, a negative for me - I prefer Optimator's flavor more. I think the green bottle is a major factor in the taste. The only one of the seven Trappist breweries that use a green bottle. Bottom of my list of the real trappists, but still, they're good. To have something in a green bottle that I like, I can only imagine if they had a brown bottle with a CORK in it! Not recommended unless you are adamant in completing your quest of sampling all of the essential Trappist breweries. But this is still better than anything that's not a craft or trappist brew!

Clear mahogny brown with hints of red. Creamy, small, long-lasting tan head. sweet, clean, malty aroma of toffee, nuts, candid sugar with touches of plums and figs. Malty deep flavour of figs, toffee and caramel. Light alcoholic finish with notes of figs and pepper.

The beer poured out a murky brown colour with reddish hues and a thin white head. The aroma was malt, yeast, and plenty of dark fruit tones like plums. The mouthful was full-bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour was plums and licorice with a hint of hoppy bitterness. An excellent beer.

Hands down one of the best beers I have ever had. Dark brown, tan coloured head that lasts forever. A rich aroma of yeast, caramel, roasted malt, and dark fruit. A deep rich flavour that consists of some bitter hops preceded by toasted caramel malt, some raisins, some figs, and a little yeast.

Bottle courtesy of Boboski: Poured a deep brown color ale with a huge foamy head with perfect retention. Aroma of cookie dough malt is just about perfect. Taste is also dominated by cookie dough malt with some nice sweet malt and a mild yeasty finish. Alcohol was well concealed with a nice full body. I thought this was somewhat reminiscent of Rochefort 10 but maybe a tad more light and not as complex but still very rewarding.

75cl bottle. This pours a dirty brown color with a huge head. The aroma is of cardoman and bits of nutmeg and cinnamon. The finish has a candy sugar sweetness.
