It's probably pretty tough to brew a true Bock in a state with a 6% limit, but Olde Towne did a fair job of it. When they first came out I was not impressed with their beers, but the Hefe is a quality draft-only offering that will be bottled soon, and the extra pale is being discontinued...both are steps in the right direction. The bock is a spring seasonal and draft only at this time, but maybe that will change next year if it does well, and it should. Great copper color, good body, but the maltiness was low for a Bock. Obviously it had to be to keep the ABV under 6%. The beer tastes great, it just doesn't taste like a great Bock. I blame that on the laws, not the brewer.

Pours a slightly hazed caramelized sugar brown. The head quickly fades to a bubble ring. The aroma is rich maltiness with wood and caramel, slight touch of corn. The flavor is light but sweet, a warm sweetness spreads over the tongue in the finish. Definitely not dry, but I personally really like this one.
